Link 16

Everybody's blacked out.

So no, uh, [laughs] no radar, no interior like F-16, no Link 16.

Uh, low illumination so you can't see anything.

I assume you're just meeting up at a point in time.

Like, don't want to get too much into the detail.

These systems called Link 16 and Link 22, which are used for coordinating assets.

We don't have them.

We have to use our own system and kind of do a kind of a bodge job in linking them up.

I mean nowadays you have IFF, identification of friend or foe in aircraft.

You have things like Link 16 and they would have benefited from something like a blue force tracker or I guess it more appropriately would be a gray force tracker in this particular instance.

But yeah, they obviously lacked those.

Who knows how many people fell to friendly fire, how many charges were against their own flank or things like that.

And then you also have slightly different MMCS PPLI that's populating everything.

And then you layer on top of that Link 16.

Definitely continuing to coach how to manage all that.

And the more we can get it integrated, we'll see improvements there, I think.

What we really see with the Whiskey is, you know, upgraded engine performance, better weapons, better defensive suites.

It's Link 16, so it's, you know, b- better able to integrate with the entire, entire air picture.

Mm-hmm.

But, uh, it's really not, like, a generational leap in technology, but it is an upgraded version of the HH-60.
