Eli WoodwardHOST
16:39
And that's crazy.
Eli WoodwardHOST
16:40
So you then now, well, I guess tell me a little bit more about the history of Russian language and the cybercrime forums, because you use the term there, the lingua franca of cybercrime.
Eli WoodwardHOST
16:52
So what's the history of that? How did that come about? And basically, what was it about your skill set that ultimately brought you into this career field?
George CorleyGUEST
14:52
Which these are aiming to like unite people through a common language that is not necessarily everybody else's language.
George CorleyGUEST
15:01
Because, you know, throughout history and up to today, usually the Ligua Franca was the language of some particularly powerful group.
George CorleyGUEST

English is not the lingua franca of the world because it's better than other languages.

It doesn't just sound ridiculous to them or from them, but it just tells you how authentic it is because we, as a Nigerian people, we created that language, Nigerian Pidgin.
Goodness EzeHOST
9:42
In fact, I'll, I'll go, I'll go as far as saying that in my opinion, Nigerian Pidgin should be our lingua franca.
Goodness EzeHOST
9:47
That should be our lingua fr- lingua franca.
Goodness EzeHOST
9:48
It should be our official language because it's such a beautiful language, right? We can communicate ourselves.
Goodness EzeHOST
9:53

Jonathan GaultHOST

Jonathan GaultHOST
81:32
English is kind of a lingua franca at this point, or at least in-- Okay, it's not super widely spoken, like, in all parts of Asia, but I would think for an event like the Asian Games, not everyone's gonna know Japanese, and all these other people from the countries that aren't Japan, they're probably more likely to know some English than they are to know Japanese, I, I think, for the most part.
Jonathan GaultHOST
81:56
Uh, I think it is a-- Yeah, it seems a little weird they wouldn't do, like, Japanese and English, but I think in a lot of these major sporting events, they use English just because they know it's the language that most of these people are most likely to know some of, rather than just doing Japanese, where only the Japanese athletes will know it.
Jonathan GaultHOST
82:16
But yeah, the Japanese fans, they're way more likely to know Japanese, so I'm kinda curious why they wouldn't also introduce people in Japanese.
Robert JohnsonHOST

You would've learned the term lingua franca if you did not know it, 'cause that was posted on the message board.
Robert JohnsonHOST
