Lin Yun-ju

Now to sports.

Taiwan's men's table tennis team, anchored by Lin Yun-ju, swept Iran three to zero in the Nagoya Asian Games quarterfinals on Tuesday.

The win sends Taiwan to the semifinals and guarantees the squad at least a bronze medal, its fourth consecutive Asian Games podium finish.

Taiwan will face powerhouse China in the semifinals with a place in the gold medal match on the line.

The ceremony marked the start of Japan's first Asian Games in thirty-two years, with Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako in attendance.

Competition begins in full on September twentieth, with Taiwan's soft tennis team chasing gold and table tennis star Lin Yun-ju leading the men's team.

The build-up has been marred by organizational issues, including a mistaken national anthem and athletes housed on cruise ships.

Now the weather.
