But, yeah, I saw people getting stung.

There was some bloke at the bottle shop who was like, the cops had his bike, and he was, like, s- pushing a Lime bike looking really sad, 'cause he's gotta get home somehow.

So he's clearly, like, the cops have just said, "Go get a Lime bike 'cause we're taking this."

For what?

E-bikes.

I was distracted by other things, which I'm very aware of these days.

The trade war motion that was authored by Councillor Hammond that we talked about later on in the program that had to do with the company offering the Lime Bikes sharing service being located in the United States, despite having holdings in Canada.

And it's important that we mention that.

And that was also in Hammond's motion.

All those in favour of the consent agenda being just those two items.

Anyone opposed? That is unanimous.

So that was technically the vote yesterday that passed the motion that was brought by Councillor Hammond to have staff report back on more information on contracting and other functions of the city after it was learned, after the service had actually been procured, that the company offering the bike share service, the Lime Bikes, as they're known by many, is actually located in the United States of America, despite having significant holdings here in British Columbia, which is something that Hammond acknowledged in his motion.

And it's important that we put that part in as well.

and accepted to ride e-bikes and e-scooters.

Operators of e-mobility device rentals, including Lime and Neuron, will have to wait until March next year to take reasonable steps to ensure riders meet age and licensing requirements.

And this may include written or in-app declarations, starting a driver's license at the time of hire and the rider declarations in the mobile app.

And I think that's probably realistically what's going to happen A lot of these do use a mobile app to sort of record your ride and pay and facilitate that process.

So in theory, you'll probably have to take a photo of your license or something akin to that to upload.

These rules, of course, will also apply to short-term holiday rentals and long-term subscription models, which is apparently a thing you can do with these electronic scooters.

Lime's Asia Pacific leader, Will Peters, said that the operator was continuing to call for an exemption for shared schemes.

He says, quote, The shared schemes were caught a little bit of a political football here because we did not see completely abhorrent behavior from some people riding e-bikes.
