yeah at a glance yeah I didn't even know that the main character's name was Speed Racer I was losing it when I learned that not too far into the movie so that's how blind I came into this property but at a glance directed by Lana and Lily Wachowski famous for directing The Matrix, also directed Bound, their sort of indie crime movie from a couple years before they did The Matrix, which is really cool, and also directed Cloud Atlas.

Speed Racer had a $120 million budget and made $94 million at the box office.

Well, uh, it was a, it was a great team.

It was, uh, you know, mostly women and, and a very queer team.

And, uh, obviously, uh, Lily was, uh, Lily Wachowski was producing, and I was friends with Lily.

Um, we work on other projects together, so it was great to have, have her backing.

It follows Aggie, a trans woman, and her on again, off again lover Tess is there when she exits the time loop.

Lily Wachowski actually co-produced it.

And I love it because I think it does something that's really unique, which is it takes the time loop trope that you've maybe seen again and again in films, but it explores the more personal side of it.

Like what mentally, internally happens to a person that goes through living the same day over and over again for 10 years? What happens after they leave the loop? And it's also just a really sweet, really juicy queer romance.

There's a Hollywood director, and I'm going to look at my notes here so I remember her name, named Lily Wachowski.

Lily Rakowski is a highly regarded Hollywood director.

She's done a bunch of big movies.

So Lily Wachowski just did an interview with Variety magazine.

And so Lily came out as transgender in 2016, and she had this to say about JK Rowling, saying JK Rowling-

"Funds trans genocide.

So JK Rowling, via her representation, issued this statement: "Freedom of speech is a principle we should all cherish, cherish.

What matters is that JK Rowling's views, as with anyone else's, are represented accurately, fairly, and respectfully, and that individual opinion does not attr- detract from those views.

To correct Lily Wachowski, through the JK Rowling Women's Fund, JK Rowling supports women taking legal action in the UK to prevert- preserve their existing rights under the Equality Act 2010, which are often overlooked or threatened.

She does not support legal actions aimed at harming transgender people or efforts to limit trans rights." But, you know, if you follow the-

Lilly Wachowski says Hollywood has dramatically pulled back from twen- uh, trans and queer representation since the trans tipping point of the 2010s.

Wachowski says she then spent years pitching queer and trans projects without finding a studio willing to make them.

Anyways, we're gonna get into all of that.

Also, Lily Wachowski says, uh, "No allies in Hollywood for trans filmmakers." Like how I artfully ignore-

The Matrix creator Lily Wachowski, once known as Andy Wachowski, has just done an interview with Variety explaining the launch of his new production company called Anarchists United.

This is funny because it feels like this is, like, the suggestion that everyone had when he first started complaining about Hollywood not funding trans projects.
