Lillo Thomas

I take this tape to this particular label and meet with this pretty prominent Black music executive, and he's like, nobody wants to see a fat soul singer.

Fortunately for Freddie, Hush had had enough success with artists like Melba Moore and Lilo Thomas that Capitol Records allowed them to put acts on the label, sight unseen.

We're going to put him

in the studio regardless of whether he has a record deal or not.
