Lightning

Well, when you're capable of setting the future in stone, it's easier to predict.

Kind of like with Lightning being the decade-long connector, Apple promised it, and now everyone is saying, Apple is doing the EU, USB-C, and it's just like, yeah, but it was also a decade.

They said they would not switch connectors for a decade, and here we are.

So, Apple has a very long timeline.

Um, anyway, "'Can It Run Doom?' has now become a meme and a running joke among tech enthusiasts", continues the story, "with programmers taking up the challenge of porting the game to the weirdest of devices.

Some of the weirder examples that we've seen recently include an ele- an electric cooking pot", I remember that one, "an orbiting satellite from the European Space Agency, and even an Apple Lightning to HDMI dongle.

Playing Doom on a tiny 3.6-inch touchscreen isn't exactly fun", speak for yourself, "especially as the medium format camera form factor does not lend well to gaming.

However, gaming on cameras isn't actually the point of this and other similar projects.

And somebody, uh, Scooter X, has just posted in the chat, "Which Apple TV, uh, is the new $59 Siri remote compatible with? 'Cause quite frankly, $60 to upgrade the remote for precision finding and a built-in speaker, worth it." Like, obviously it costs more than an AirTag, but also USB-C charging.

One of my, uh, remotes uses Lightning as the charger.

Uh, and, uh, this is USB-C, and then all the other ones I've had is, uh, the, the Lightning.

Um, so I'm cur- I'm gonna try it 'cause I have Lightning and I have, uh, USB-C to see if there's any difference.

That's what I- I'm curious to see because the USB-C was the more, more current model versus the, uh, the Lightning.

The USB-C cable is bigger, and there's really not too many other benefits left.

Well, and the Lightning, too, is easier to waterproof.

Yeah.

They never open-sourced Lightning.

If they wanted people to use it, they could have open-sourced it.
