I actually do.
M
32:56MashTheNewtonHOST
Uh, I was going through a phase of trying to pick up some light gun games for the Wii a number of years ago.
M
33:02MashTheNewtonHOST
And I do have a house of the dead overkill, uh, But I think I also have a house that had two and three and I've played the two and three disc.
M
33:10MashTheNewtonHOST
I don't think I've played the overkill disc yet.
M

Went right off the cliff.

So where Typing the Dead came from? To understand this game, we have to start with a very strange idea from 1999.
A
34:19AndyTheAndroidHOST
Sega took The House of the Dead 2, a light gun game where you shoot zombies and replaced the gun with a keyboard.

It is a light gun shooter game for PS2.
M
69:23MattHOST
The price of it, though, has continued to go on up.
M
69:25MattHOST
Like I mentioned, a loose copy, $69.54.
M
70:19MattHOST
We'll see.
M
70:20MattHOST
This is an oddity, though.
M
70:24MattHOST
If I remember correctly, it got pretty good reviews, but because it was a light gun game, not a lot of people bought it, so the print run was not extremely high.
M
70:33MattHOST

J
5:08Jamie SmithGUEST

J
5:13Jamie SmithGUEST
Anyway, I ended up having this whole kind of treasure trove of stuff.
J

And they weren't always great.
Sega's Pioneering 3D Hardware (With MercuryCDX)

M
57:59Mercury CDXGUEST
oh definitely like uh it was hard for me to find the uh a u.s uh saturn light gun for some reason but like in you know if you like import one from japan that's easy they sold like a billion of them so they're really cheap and uh they're pretty sturdy like the saturn uh light guns, actually a pretty, uh, impressive piece of kit.
M
58:18Mercury CDXGUEST
I would recommend if like somebody is playing around hardware wise that go for that.
M
58:22Mercury CDXGUEST
But yeah, virtual cop, I think that's the first 3d, uh, light gun shooter.
16 MINS LATER
M
74:57Mercury CDXGUEST
And part of it was maybe there's Virtual Fighter fatigue, but there was something else.
M
75:02Mercury CDXGUEST
They the the magazine divides games into sections.
M
75:07Mercury CDXGUEST
uh there's like a general arcade which is like you know like you see candy cabs or whatever and you can like slap any uh pcb into that and you know it's fine but then there's these like dedicated machines and most of the sega games will fall into this it's like you had to buy the whole unit because it comes with like all these uh you know gimmicks yeah like you know light guns or whatever There was no regular arcade release of Virtual Fighter 3 or any Model 3 game.
