Adam EvaltHOST
24:23
The one that was in Life is Strange Double Exposure.
Adam EvaltHOST
24:25
Because that's the only ones that they're selling mainstream-wise.
Adam EvaltHOST
24:29
Bottom left one.
Adnan RiazHOST
27:56
So the marginalia, whatever it is, and the main copy were pretty much written simultaneously, almost like a conversation.
Adnan RiazHOST
28:06
That said, there were a lot of discussions between myself, my editor at Titan, and our contact at Deck9 about the chronology of the book.
Adnan RiazHOST
28:13
how it was initially put together by Yasmin before double exposure and then redone by I can't say it seriously redone by Owen between double exposure and reunion and finally then when Max would steal the printed draft evidence and various people would scribe it on it as it was lying around our house it was all carefully crafted for that sentence there I've never seen a pivot in my entire life than that sentence yeah
Adam EvaltHOST
28:41
Yeah,
Adam EvaltHOST
17:58
[laughs]
Adnan RiazHOST
17:59
The Life Is Strange franchise is one of the many gaming titles and series added to the website called Woke-O-Meter.
Adam EvaltHOST
18:05
[laughs]
Adnan RiazHOST
18:06
So, I also put this in my tweet as well.
Adnan RiazHOST
18:42
Like there was-- They were actually in here, actually.
Adnan RiazHOST
18:43
Where were they now? Um-
Adam EvaltHOST
18:44
Well, what's interesting is that the Life is Strange original is seven, but the remaster's at a three.
Adnan RiazHOST
18:50
Yeah, this is the f- There was like, just like so many little things.
Adam EvaltHOST

[upbeat music] Let's branch out.

Adam EvaltHOST

Adam EvaltHOST
0:52
[laughs]
Adnan RiazHOST
0:54
Uh, have you thought about getting Life is Strange tattoo?
Adam EvaltHOST
0:58
Yes.
Adnan RiazHOST
7:24
I think just to kind of piggyback off what you said, I don't think Reunion will get anything because I think the game roster of selection is too big.
Adnan RiazHOST
7:32
The likelihood of it, like with Double Exposure, you got nominated for Actor, which Hannah Tell went in for, and then the same with Games for Impact, and it lost both those as well.
Adnan RiazHOST
7:41
And it's either going to fall in those two categories or it's going to fall into... narrative they're the usual warts that they get for some reason they get stumped for music every single time life is strange
Adam EvaltHOST
7:51
i know it's gonna
Adnan RiazHOST
7:51
fall it's gonna fall into those three categories i don't think it's gonna end nominations because i think that even as much as reunion divided people and it was still quite good in certain ways it was limited on budget and scale compared to double exposure it's been six months since it's come out most people have forgotten about that as well which is crazy as well um and it's like almost six months i think it is So it's like, no, six months is six months that it's been out.
Adnan RiazHOST
8:13
So I think like, I think it's just going to fly under the radar.
Adnan RiazHOST
8:16
And I think dispatch is basically stuck in a year where last year, if it went up, it would have got nominations and it would have got battered by expedition 33, because there's not a chance it would have won anything compared to
Adnan RiazHOST
13:00
I think that's where you're going to get a very sad indictment of the gaming industry more than what it is.
TravisHOST
1:39
Briz, welcome to the show.
TravisHOST
1:40
I know you were on not too long ago, a couple episodes back, but we brought you back so that you could preach the gospel of what is Life is Strange.
BrizGUEST
1:50
Yeah, thanks for inviting me back and giving me a platform to talk about this game.
BrizGUEST
1:56
As you know, I went deep into the franchise earlier this year, and it's been on the forefront of my mind for a few months now.
TravisHOST
4:32
So maybe we start a little bit at the now and then go back to the front.
TravisHOST
4:37
What got you back into...
TravisHOST
4:40
the Life is Strange, what was the point where you were like, dude, I, because I feel like you played them initially, you weren't as heavy into them, you liked them, but here recently it's been a little bit more of an obsessive fandom as opposed to just a regular old fandom.
BrizGUEST
4:53
Yeah.
Adnan RiazHOST
28:33
sense uh i think uh but i i think with the book that i took away from it it's like i think gilbert yeah was a very talented writer i think they did really good with like what they were given but this screamed the same situation that iris dartman and also john john zim were put in which was that basically there's been a lot of pivoting there's a You're not giving enough room and freedom for Rosie to kind of maneuver in a story where, for example, Steph's story is taking place at True Colors.
Adnan RiazHOST
29:04
Rosie 4 is trying to damage control the situation between double exposure and reunion.
Adnan RiazHOST
29:08
So it's like almost you're already kind of putting too many hands in the cookie jar.
Adnan RiazHOST
29:12
And it's like the story keeps flip-flopping back and forth.

5 MINS LATER

Adnan RiazHOST
34:40
In itself, she might become more passionate and become an advocate for sending a different message of not being that kind of person.
Adnan RiazHOST
34:46
It can't deter your hobbies and interests completely.
Adnan RiazHOST
34:48
The darkroom thing from Double Exposure was that thing where there was so much to play with there.
Adnan RiazHOST
34:52
where it's like you know even if it was like sequenced when she wakes up in that dark room sequence in double exposure you could have done the trope the tropey dream sequence where she feels like a needle going into her neck and she wakes up and it's like a double dream thing it might be tropey it might be that kind of thing but it adds that flavor of like there is a trauma element with the character they know that they're in a dark room they know the kind of experience when your character is completely unfazed by it then it's a little bit like okay like there's something there people heal from trauma trauma stays forever with people like it's an experience it's how you address the trauma and how you go to it again chloe does it in the um in the book i heard chloe mentioned freudian slip and i was like you know chloe price is the grade 101 example of like with psychoanalysis like as john zim said you could literally put an entire uh psychodynamic board on on the pitch and just see chloe and how the strands connect with them so it's like that with chloe it's like with chloe it's like Because then even to put the kind of conversation with Kate Marsh into perspective, you could say that, for example, Chloe wouldn't go back to Max ever again because what happened to Rachel Amber? They were abandoned.
