Lie with Me

We find out that we are in the year 1916, and then we find out that one of the main characters in the book is a writer named Marcel P.

And I'm going to say right here at the top that there was some very bold things, not only the idea of taking on the voice of Marcel Proust, but there was like a very bold thing that happens in the novel.

There's a really important twist.

And I will say I was on an airplane when I got to the twist.

It felt earned in some ways.

Like when I thought back about what I had been reading, I was like, oh, OK, I understand why this twist is going to work.

But it was at the very end of the novel.

And it felt in some ways kind of gratuitous and sort of gimmicky.
