Moving on to an interesting matchup.

Liberty Christian loses to Salina 35-34.

Something just for people listening, we try to not do public school versus private school matchups on the slate just because we want to cover as many private school games as possible.

But when games like this happen, you have to mention them because Salina is a team that has won multiple state titles in recent memory, just had to OU commit Bo Bentley.

Um, so they're a good squad, right? They're one of the best in TSP or one of the best in high school football in Texas, uh, and recent memory.

And this was a close one.

Uh, what you kind of want to see from Liberty Christian, um, you of course want them to win that game.

And I think Salina is a little bit down.

Liberty Christian game, which I guess we thought last week was game of the year in Midland versus Liberty Christian.

We might have topped that in week one with Liberty versus All Saints.

That's going to be crazy.

in uh in 2023 as it was almost three years ago that was only the third full season 21 22 23 that we had done the podcast uh we were all still either in college or grad school um no one had jobs yet we were i think much dumber uh and less informed all that being said is for i don't even know how many straight days that is somehow 900 ish straight days yeah something like that I think 1,000.

someone said 1,000 on one of the Liberty Christian tweets.

That is legitimately insane.

I don't know how much up there that is in Tijuana.

Anyways, moving into – The first game of the slate, like we said, no time to rest as we see Liberty Christian travel to Fort Worth All Saints, where the Saints are four and a half point favorites.

All Saints decided again that beating the top team in Division I is not enough and they will challenge a very pissed off Liberty Christian in Week 1.

You gotta think All Saints is upset with Midland for kicking the hornet's nest and making Liberty come out for blood after throwing a 28-point lead gained in the first five minutes of the contest.

That said, you still gotta have dudes to put up 63 points in a single contest.

All Saints puts another feather in the cap here.

Don't overthink it, folks.

Liberty Christian is great.

But nope, he's finishing out his high school career at Liberty.

Liberty Christian, that is.

And so...

He's one of those guys that if you live in the DFW area, you'll be able to get out and see.

We've all been there.

Mm-hmm.

But yeah, Liberty Christian did lose, like I said, a barn burner week one.

I think Cooper Witten had three touchdown catches.

The Mustangs then drive down the field to the Warriors' five-yard line, which sets up junior kicker Andrew Buckingham to meet the game-winning field goal as the clock expires.

Final score, Midland Christian 66, Liberty Christian 63, after being down 28-0 and 42-14, nearing basically 11 minutes left in the second quarter.

I guess I'll just say this real quick.

In the next two minutes, I faced the mob that was Midland Christian.

Unbelievable.

And Jason Witten got the field named after him down there at Liberty Christian.

I've really enjoyed that, working with the high school kids.

Cause they're just that good.

Cruz Messer, the kid, the new coming incoming kid from Liberty Christian has put a lot of people on notice after that thing of like, Oh, you know, you lose Quinn Murphy.

Absolutely.

But, It's not going to be that far of a drop off.

And that's now they're just bumping up with equal competition.

So a lot of, a lot of exciting things.

I want to say quickly that wide receiver mentioned for Liberty Christian is Jace Johnson.

He is six, four to one 80 comes over from, I forget exactly where, but he's going to be a big target for Cruz Messer for them.
