Why is Libby significant?

Libby is a sick town.

So we were trying to raise the red flags of things that we were seeing as a pattern, and my very s- first spreadsheets of tracking male, female, age, location of zone, diagnoses, we brought that to the FDNY, and they thought we were crazy.

Why is Libby significant?

Libby is a sick town.

Uh, Libby, Montana mines, uh, the vermiculite mines, that is a sick town from the contamination, uh, environmental contamination.

We'll hear discussion from Monday night's town hall meeting in Kalispell, where citizens brought concerns about proposed license plate readers to the city council and mayor.

And we'll learn about a structure fire in Libby this week that left two men hospitalized.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and the U.S. Forest Service are investigating a bear attack on a woman walking her dog on the Cedar Flats Trail Complex north of Columbia Falls.

The attack occurred around 7 p.m. on August 31st.

City officials have said the system would consist of a camera mounted on a parking enforcement vehicle operated by a city employee and would not be connected to any criminal justice databases.

While Council agreed to strike funding for the system from the budget for fiscal year 2027, the body agreed to hold future meetings about how the city would tackle parking enforcement and what a potential policy for license plate readers could look like.

The call came in at 11.39 a.m., and when firefighters arrived at the single-wide mobile home in Vanderwood Court, it was fully engulfed.

Yeah.

So one of the key communities is Libby, Montana.

So when Kara did this, I was like, Kara, Kara is Vince's fiance.

So I drive myself to Libby and it's...

And they were a logging town, but the environmentalists came in and then now they are not allowed to log.

Initiatives, and so you have, of course, the spotted owl in the Pacific Northwest, but.

where I worked for a time in Libby, Montana.

And if, and this is far Northwest Montana, right next to the panhandle of Idaho.

And it was a time of, of a forest.

The forest industry was sort of collapsing champion paper, a big company that moved that kind of had, you could say almost strip mine, their timber had, had sort of taken everything they wanted and left.

And a lot of jobs were lost.

Libby, Montana was, was, the site of this vermiculite mine, Superfund.

So you had the Superfund site and a lot of jobs lost and health problems in Libby.

So it's out there.

It exists.
