Liane Moriarty

You've written a book about writing and about creativity as well.

So I'm now thinking this is the point where I think my mind has gone to Liane Moriarty because I think somewhere along the line she said something about in writing the script she kind of made it so much like Meryl Streep could do it that Meryl Streep ended up having to do it.

It's like wish fulfillment.

That's like wizardry.

So Life Matters is asking a few special guests to share their favorite Australian children's book.

I spoke to bestselling author Liane Moriarty on the program the other day, and while she was here, she shared the kids book that had her in streams of tears for the first time when she read it with her daughter.

[gentle music] Hello, I'm Liane Moriarty, Australian author, and my favorite Australian children's book is Dragon Skin by Karen Foxlee.

It's about little girl called Pip who lives in a small town with her single mother, and she finds a very sick little dragon by, by the waterhole, and she brings it home, hides it from her mum, and then she, she's trying to work out how to keep it alive.

[gentle music] It's a really special m- memory for me because I was reading it with my daughter, and we were reading a page each, so we were taking a turn to, to read a page out loud to each other.

So for me, it's just the, the clarity of the, the writing, but yet it's different.

It's different for every reader.

I'm Liane Moriarty, and that's my favorite Australian children's book.

So, yes, just to me that's just interesting.
