Yeah.
Nathan SilesGUEST

Why are we not using Li-Fi, which is point-to-point infrared transmitting? Remember, I don't know if some of the listeners, if you were back in the day, but I remember we used to line our computers up with these little infrared things that we used to transmit information.

What happened to that? That's completely biologically inert.

That is perfect transfer.

Beyond radio waves in the standard Wi-Fi frequencies, other technologies use different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum for wireless communication.

Li-Fi stands for light fidelity, and it uses visible light or infrared light instead of radio waves to transmit data.

133:15
A Li-Fi system uses a light source, like an LED or infrared diode, that is modulated to carry data by rapidly varying its brightness or colour.

133:25
A photodiode receiver detects the changes in light and converts them back to electrical signals that represent data.

The advantage of Li-Fi is that light cannot penetrate walls, so the signal is naturally contained within the room and cannot interfere with devices in other rooms.

Light frequencies are much higher than radio frequencies.

allowing higher data rates in theory.

The disadvantage is that Li-Fi requires a direct line of sight and does not work well in sunlight or with reflections.
