What are some of the, I suppose, the tangible outcomes that young people should be looking for in this organisation?

Levi PowerGUEST
Firstly, I think back to last iteration where we established a formal youth voice conveners with Geordie Edwards and Alice Pepper who put their hand up and led a lot of the work last term to get us to where we are now.

Levi PowerGUEST
That was spending a lot of time speaking with young people across the state, getting their thoughts, ideas, aspirations.

Levi PowerGUEST
We took that and what we heard loud and clear is that, and we all know this and Tani touched on it, this is about doing things our way and what we know works best for our communities.

Levi PowerGUEST
And a big part of that is having elders help guide us and having young people part of decisions that affect their futures.

Levi PowerGUEST
Tanya and I, you know, the next iteration came around, we put our hands up for that election, and I think I speak for both of us, so grateful that the other members put their faith in us to lead this work for the next four years.

Tarni MorrisGUEST
I think that is our hope and to have that formal recognition of that their knowledge and experience matters, just like our old people, but for the young people too.

Levi PowerGUEST
Yeah, so once we were approaching signing of the treaty, we knew roughly what it was that we needed to establish into Galangwal.

Levi PowerGUEST
So we wanted to set up Galangwal for success as quickly, make sure they hit the ground running and give them as much guidance, similar to the statement of intention that we received from the first iteration around what should be negotiated in the treaty.

Levi PowerGUEST
So in a similar vein, we thought, you know, none of us were guaranteed to return as members.

Levi PowerGUEST
And we were referring to this work as a bit of a gift over to Galangwal, which is all of the different projects and all the new powers.

Levi PowerGUEST
We want to do some early preliminary thinking on that and give some recommendations to Galangwal.
