Levelland

What other stories would you put up in that class, uh, with, with a lot of witnesses or, you know, something you can, you can verify and put your hand around?

I think one of the best cases is Levelland, Texas, from, uh, November of 1957.

What happened there?

This was a, a case any number of people saw a craft close to the ground.

Mm-hmm.

So you've got a wide range of people seeing this thing.

Now, Don Burlinson, who lives in Roswell, New Mexico, in two thousand went to Levelland and, and actually interviewed the daughter of the sheriff and the, and the sheriff's widow.

And they said that the sheriff had been told by the Air Force not to talk about it to anybody.

But you don't see that sort of thing in these data dumps.

I'm looking for the, the Levelland stuff, 'cause here's a big sighting from November of 1957 where the craft interacted with the environment, it stalled cars.

Uh, literally dozens of people saw that.

The sheriff, the sheriff of Hockley County in Texas, where Levelland's located, talked about getting hundreds of phone calls.

You know, and the close approach of the UFO stalled the car engine and that sort of thing.

There was, uh, landing traces that were found, and there's a good possibility the Air Force officers were close enough to get their car stalled.

Well, we don't know what it is.

Normally, they would slap a hoax label on it or some kind of stupid answer.

And I, and I say, "Okay, we look at, we go look through all this information.

Where's the stuff on Roswell? Where's the stuff on Levelland?" Both very important sightings.

But they don't-- There's nothing that you find that we...

In Roswell cases, the FBI telex that talks about the information getting to, uh, Fort Worth, and the FBI agent talking to, um, Major Curtin.

If you look at the data dumps we've gotten from these, uh, data dumps, there's an awful lot of newspaper articles included in that material and, and information from, uh, uh, UFO organizations that were, that leaned from the, "I believe everything" to, uh, "Everything is wrong.

We've gotta, we've gotta look at that." Short-lived organizations, long-lived organizations, all of that sort of thing, but there's nothing about Roswell.

I found nothing about Levelland.

I, I'm looking for that stuff.

So they were doing their job and kind of looking into this, but it was actually Hynek's job and the Air Force's job to investigate this thing, and they did everything they could to prevent Hynek from doing a proper investigation.

Uh, we, we, or we can look at the Levelland sightings, and I'm just all over the board here.

I know, and I understand that.

That's okay.

But, but in November of 1957, there was a series of sightings in Levelland, Texas, where the craft approached cars stalling the engines.

Yes.

And the sher- the sheriff was involved, and his car was stalled, and there were Air Force officers, uh, their car stalled.

Ball lightning, scientists still argue about whether it even exists, but, uh, it's always a small phenomena, maybe 18 inches, uh, 24 inches in, in diameter at best, and very short-lived.

Yeah.

Yeah, great people.

Then six years later, there was another one.

There was the Levelland in or in Levelland saw another famous UFO sighting.

So another famous UFO case occurred on November 2nd and 3rd, 1957.

People claimed to see a very bright egg shaped ship hover above the city of 10,000 people.

Many people reported to spotting the aircraft while driving on the highway.

Yeah.
