Is rugby improving?
D
7:11Damian WarrenHOST
When he has played for the All Blacks, he's been amazing, but he just can't seem to make the team.
T
7:16Toby HarrisHOST
No, but do we know why he hasn't made the team? Is it because he's inconsistent during training or is it just because they want to stick with Leroy Carter? I don't rate Leroy Carter at all.
T
7:29Toby HarrisHOST
I'm sorry.
T
7:31Toby HarrisHOST
But if you've got Finney fit and well, he should be playing.

I also, Shea Fihaki, I don't think is a great tackler, to be perfectly honest, if you watch him up closely at Super Rugby level.

S

I genuinely think the only outside back that could push his way in would be Caleb Tangitao.
S
53:57SurlyHOST
and it'll be at the expense of someone that's currently in the squad and I think there's a couple guys, like a Josh Morby who I rate very highly but they probably haven't shot the lights out like they did in Super Rugby.
S
54:06SurlyHOST
Leroy Carter even, there's a couple wing spots there that I still think are up for grabs.
S

Shea Fihaki's obviously in this but that's due to Leroy Carter's injury.

S
12:05Sean CurraghHOST
Correct me if I'm wrong but we in domestic comps have been playing that this year haven't we?
S
12:09Sam FellowsHOST
Yeah for the last two years I think we've had it and so they've said that while it didn't have a definition I think the definition says something like you can't tackle someone early late or dangerously and then I think the interpretation that we have been told to rule is that a hip drop is dangerous despite the fact that it's not specifically wasn't specifically one of the definitions but for safety and again I think I've probably seen one or maybe two in that whole two years but they are quite hard to see I think I had it's usually when there's that last breakaway or someone steps inside or something like that and so we saw that one after that the weekend after this was announced with Leroy Carter which he's still out for and not going to the end of year test and I think it does happen a little bit more in a rugby league and NFL because they keep trying to make that ground whereas I think rugby when they're tackled they usually go to ground rather than trying to go through the tackle and get away from your support or anything like that so yeah so it's interesting to see but yeah all about just trying to keep people safer and i suppose we've seen that with the croc rolls and things that little bit of focus on the lower limb stuff about um it's not all just about head tackles and so i think there's probably two key key points that I've seen for this.
S
13:34Sam FellowsHOST
So for knee drop, I guess the key focus is thinking about when did the tackler go to ground.
S
13:40Sam FellowsHOST
So if the knee's deliberately down before making their tackle, it's a penalty.
