In the neighborhood of Basora there was a lovely island in which grew a most delightful wood where pleasing breezes whispered their love stories to the rustling leaves.

This enchanting forest was watered with several fountains, whence a number of recreating streams ran gently winding to every part of it.

Fable eighteen, The Hunter, The Fox, and The Leopard.

A certain hunter once, said Damna, pursuing his discourse, espied in the middle of a field a fox, who looked so engaging in aspect and had on a skin so fair and lovely that he had a great desire to take him alive.

once upon a time a boy named leda was tending cattle with other boys at the foot of a hill these boys in fun used to call out ho leopard ho leopard and the echo used to answer from the hill oh leopard now there really was a leopard who lived in the hill and one day he was playing hide-and-seek with a lizard which also lived there the lizard hid and the leopard looked everywhere for it in vain At last the leopard sat down to rest, and it chanced that he sat right on top of the lizard, which was hiding in a hole.

And Leda subdued all the jungle and became a great Raja.

And he made a highway to his father-in-law's home and used to go to and fro on it.

The Fox and the Leopard.

A Fox and a Leopard, resting lazily after a generous dinner, amused themselves by disputing about their good looks.

The Leopard was very proud of his glossy, spotted coat and made disdainful remarks about the Fox, whose appearance he declared was quite ordinary.

The Fox prided himself on his fine bushy tail with its tip of white, but he was wise enough to see that he could not rival the Leopard in looks.

Still, he kept up a flow of sarcastic talk, just to exercise his wits and to have the fun of disputing.

The Leopard was about to lose his temper when the Fox got up, yawning lazily.

"You may have a very smart coat," he said, "but you would be a great deal better off if you had a little more smartness inside your head and less on your ribs the way I am.

Later it's revealed that it's Malcolm McDowell's Leopard self he's under the bed and he attacks her.
