I, Pencil by Leonard Read.

I use it as required reading.

I think six minutes long.

But the point you make is profoundly creational, that there are resources required in, in the lumber and railroads and construction for a pencil that are cost millions of dollars of capital, that none of us could go make a pencil on our own, and yet we can mass produce pencils for a cost of about 2/100 of a penny.

And what Leonard Read pointed out is that this is a miracle, except for it's all out of basic, natural principles because of God's design in markets.

Yeah, yeah.

As a matter of fact, we're gonna talk about that when we talk to, uh, uh, Larry Reed, um, again, former president of FEE.

The guy who founded FEE is, uh, Leonard Read, no relation.

He wrote, uh, I, Pencil, which I've talked about so many times, but we're gonna talk a little bit about that and Great Depression.

Uh, the order, which doesn't single out any country or specify any threats- Applies to a variety of infrastructure, including substations, transformers, inverters that are used f- and renewable energy, battery storage systems, and generators.

Joining us now is Lawrence Reed.

Uh, he's a former president of FEE, and when I saw the two together, I immediately thought of Leonard Read, who wrote the famous op-ed piece, uh, I guess you'd call it, uh, I, Pencil as a short, uh, uh, exposition of economics and how it works, and I've talked about that so many times, as those of, uh, you who listen to the program know.

Uh, going back to what happened with all the supply chain disruptions back in 2020, I've been talking about it, um, even before that, but, um, I thought, "Is there a connection there?" [laughs] Of course, they're spelled differently.

And there's nothing wrong with that.

If you go back and you look, and I talked about Leonard Read's eye pencil when, uh, Trump was pulling his, um, stunt of locking everything down and breaking the supply chains.

I said, "Look at this.

You know, they have the free market," as Leonard Read talked about in a pencil.

He said, "Nobody sat down and said, 'Well, we're gonna make a pencil.

We're gonna make it all in one country.'" And, um, he said it just kinda came together from all these different places.
