And again, it would all be speculative, but I definitely always felt like it had something to do with Bob and it had something to do with all the mystery in the woods of Twin Peaks.

When I think of Bob, I mean, of course, everyone will think of like Leland Palmer from a young age onward.

or even at least my interpretation, I think of in Dale Cooper, My Life, My Tapes, that his mother has that vision.

It never says it's explicitly Bob, but I always kind of figured it was partially.

Maybe it had something to do with Harold's being so afraid or his trauma.

Maybe, you know, it's fun to think about, but I don't think there's any way to concretely know, but I definitely think that Bob did know something about Harold.

I'll get to that in a moment, but what I do want to say is that for why I think the page is torn out, it's something that I thought about on and off for a while, but I think that the reason why these pages are torn out and why they're at the closer end, like the last, like, I don't know, 20% of the diary, I think it's like anything that would have been a reference to Teresa Banks, Leland saw and just instinctively panicked and tore out.

Because, you know, in Fire Walk With Me, Laura and Ronette do lament the death of Teresa, yet she's never mentioned the diary.

Yep.

Leland potentially killed two people in 10 days.

Are we going to go through everything that's happened? Yeah, we're just going to go through

every single thing that's happened in the last 12 days.

Yeah, I didn't give a fuck about the headstand.

No.

After that scene, we get an update about the house that is right beside the Palmer's lake house where Leland Palmer claims to have seen Bob as a child.

Yeah.

then interrupts Daria's phone call to talk coordinates, a creepy black dot, Daria's duplicity, and then kills Daria and sets up a call with not-Philip Jeffries, downloads a lot of prison building specs, and goes next door to meet Chantel.

Cooper walks through red rooms, can't access one curtain threshold, crosses paths with Leland Palmer, goes back to Gerard and the evolution in the arm who says something's wrong, looks out a curtain onto a road Doppelkooper is driving on, then finds a room with the Evolution of the Arms doppelganger who shakes the floor apart and falls into a liquid.

Then Kooper glitches, is collected into the New York glass box, slots forward and backwards like it's processing him while Sam and Tracy are in the lobby, Then the glass box is empty and Cooper is shown falling through some void.

After that in Twin Peaks, Sarah watches a violent nature video at home while Shelly and her friends are at the roadhouse seeing James, Freddy, and Red arrive while Chromatics plays over the credits.

And, you know, there's an interesting take at the time.

Brian Allen's Third Day Theories article at the time, titled Twin Peaks, The Return, Parts 1 and 2, It's a World of Truck Drivers.

He says, after Phyllis leaves, the principal says, oh, my God, oh, my God, as if he was just given back his memories in the same manner that Leland was after Bob left him.

And Brian says, I think, and this is my own theory again, that Phyllis was possessed, maybe by Bob, maybe just some other lodged spirit, maybe that ghostly man in the jail cell, question mark.

It features several stand-ins for his projects and for the people in his life.

Ex-wife and continuing collaborator Audrey Parris, played by Leland Palmer, is of course based on Gwen Verdon.

Long-suffering girlfriend Katie Jagger is based on Anne Reinking, who played her in the film, and took pains in interviews to note that she had auditioned for the role, as her and Fosse were no longer romantically involved.

Kind of feels like when Tori Spelling auditioned for 90210.

Maybe so.

Jessica Lange was rescued from King Kong by Fosse, who had her play the temptress Death.

Also with Cliff Gorman, Ben Vereen, Erzabeth Foldy, Leland Palmer, Sandal Bergman, John Lithgow, Keith Gordon.

Dude, he's killer.

Yeah.

So very Leland Palmer if you're, [laughs] you know-

... still on the Twin Peaks from a few weeks ago.

Surely this must have been like the bad part of season two when the show was like losing its footing.

But oh, this is an episode right after Maddie is brutally murdered by Leland.

I just find it bizarre that Scott Frost decided to, while Leland's on the loose and all this stuff is going crazy in the town of Twin Peaks, This is when we introduce Norma's mother and then her new husband.

And on top of that, Gwen, which is Lucy's annoying sister.

So I don't think Scott Frost is a bad writer in terms of dialogue, but he just has like these kind of bizarre scenarios that he puts in this episode and the one episode he does right for later on season two.

Yeah.

Yeah, that's an interesting observation, Colin, because characters, all those extraneous characters don't really appear in that episode that Lynch directed.

And then immediately, now that we know what Leland has been up to, he's driving around and doing that crazy thing where he's, what's he going to do, hit Cooper with the golf club right there in the middle of the street? It's just, frankly, it doesn't make any sense.

Wow.

Leland shows up at the sheriff's station and he shows the sheriff and Cooper the picture of Bob.

And he says, I know this guy.

He said, when I was a little boy, my grandfather had a summer home and I went there every year.

So did Bob do it? Is the mystery that there's no mystery and Bob is the killer? It's a possibility.

Dick is a weird guy.

Do we want to really quickly acknowledge the fact that Leland was really good at that? Really good at what? Flicking it right into where he was aiming it at.

Oh yeah.

Uh-

And, uh, and Ray Wise, Leland Palmer himself in Twin Peaks.

Of course.

Um, l- he was only, like, a few years away from doing that, actually.

That would...

Except also Leland Palmer- Okay ... who is possessed by Bob.

Sure.
