Leighton Ford

I remember years ago, uh, going through, uh, the Arrow leadership program.

Leighton Ford was the founder of that.

But, but back in the day, he w- he was always talking about this mentorship model, which is a lot of what you're describing, which is we need to think of who are we pouring into, men- mentees below us, which are, in this case, our children.

The peer mentors, who are we doing life with that are kind of on the journey with? And then who above us are we being mentored by? And all three of those have to be in play all the time to be healthy, and I think that's, to your, as you're describing that, I think part of the challenge is we just say, "Hey, parents are primary educators." We don't know who we're looking up to [laughs] other than maybe YouTube.

Uh, he, he made a commitment when I started there to mentor me, and, uh, 31 years later, he stopped mentoring me because he passed away, and Leighton Ford and I spoke at his memorial service in Charlotte, North Carolina.

But Bob Cooley, um, I wouldn't be where I was had he not...

He had nothing to gain from that.

Everyone's willing to find Jesus on their terms or to serve Jesus on their terms.
