And yes, I know it sounds pretentious, but that's how he pronounced it, just like he says, the vich.
M
34:38MattHOST
But i i'm looking forward to seeing what he does with it from what i remember the cast looks good he you know he's doing what he does which he's bringing it back to like you know medieval times when the werewolf legend began to arise so you know i'm sure it's going to be too long but at the same time i'm sure it's going to look amazing and i'm sure the performances are going to be good i just hope that if if they nail the werewolf because That was my big disappointment with Lee Whannell's The Wolfman was I just don't think they nailed the werewolf.
M
35:12MattHOST
If he nails the werewolf, then I'm all in.

J
18:03Josh TodaroGUEST
So, so that's how I prefaced it because I was like, I was always trying to write like dead silence type, you know, like I know I'm, I'm actually very aware that I'm following on from, uh, Lee 1L's episode as well.
J
18:17Josh TodaroGUEST
So, um, Just he's one of our best, you know, like he's from my hometown.
J
18:23Josh TodaroGUEST
I reckon he's one of the best horror writers to ever do it.

INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2

It doesn't let itself get in the way.
N
35:06Nicole GobleGUEST
So, yeah, and as I stated in The previous episode, I am a big Leigh Whannell fan.

Episode 337 - Saw V
R

I feel like we really...
R
44:20Reneé Hunter VasquezHOST
I guess Leigh Whannell really put a bow on it.
T
44:22Travis Hunter-SayapinHOST
He did.
R

And it should've just been left there, because I think the only way to continue the story is through Amanda.
Subculture Film Reviews - INSIDIOUS: OUT OF THE FURTHER (The Popcorn Conspiracy)
D
0:19David GriffithsHOST
Perhaps the most surprising thing, though, about the franchise is how it's grown from being a simple film about a family living in a basically haunted house... to where it is today, where the expert Elise Rayner, played by Lin Shay, has become an explorer of the mythical dimension known as the Further.
D
0:38David GriffithsHOST
Now, to keep things fresh, different writers have introduced some interesting ingredients into what was originally Lee Whannell's idea.
D
0:46David GriffithsHOST
We've seen a criminal element put into it in The Last Key.
D
0:51David GriffithsHOST
And to be honest, some of those little twists and turns that writers have put in there have worked and some have not.
K
3:52Kyle McGrathHOST
so like even though um like something that they that they make callbacks to the other films or uh they they they all kind of slot together like a jigsaw piece even though um like when the say like the first movie is written there's something in the second movie that ties into the first movie really well, even though it was never intended to be a second movie.
K
4:23Kyle McGrathHOST
They never intended to have that second part of the story.
K
4:28Kyle McGrathHOST
And that's something that I kind of have enjoyed about Lee Whannell's franchises like this, even though, God knows, he probably has absolutely nothing to do with them anymore other than being credited as a producer.
K
4:43Kyle McGrathHOST
Yeah.
Insidious: Out of the Further

D
17:43DaveHOST
Is that how you say his name? Lee Wannell, yeah.
D
17:46DaveHOST
He wrote it, and he's in the first one.
D
17:48DaveHOST
He plays Specs.
D

34% audience was 48%.
D
20:44DaveHOST
So still not great.
D
20:44DaveHOST
Apparently, Lee Wannell was in that one.
INSIDIOUS (part 2 of 2)
M
41:01Mike SnoonianHOST
And this is where, you know, you do see a shift in the film.
M
41:04Mike SnoonianHOST
Like, you bring in Angus Simpson's Tucker and Lee Wannell's Specs, and you start adding some of those moments of humor.
M
41:12Mike SnoonianHOST
But then you introduce Lin Shay, who... brings like a serious and a little bit of gravitas to it and i think there's a great shot where one has the camera like pulling really close on her face her eyes in particular as she's like scaling the room and she's like you're not going to have to reevaluate the other house like We, we got everything we need right here and you know, like, okay, this is real.
M
41:39Mike SnoonianHOST
And you set up some other like terrific jump scares in the meantime, like proceeding this one, you get the first one with the lipstick demon when he appears over.
INSIDIOUS (2011) Deep Dive & Analysis
K
0:18KylieHOST
And today we're taking a break from our Insidious inspired TT RPG and we are doing a deep dive on the film Insidious.
K
0:28KylieHOST
So join us as we dive into the making of the film, a little bit about production, and the relationship between James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
K
0:38KylieHOST
So let's kick things off with a brief summary of the film.
K
0:44KylieHOST
A family looks to prevent evil spirits from trapping their comatose child in a realm called The Further.
K
3:33KylieHOST
Letterboxd gave it a 3.2 out of 5.
K
3:36KylieHOST
There was quite a bit of negative feedback on that particular platform about how poorly lit the film was, which I have some of my own thoughts on that later in our deep dive.
K
3:49KylieHOST
So the first topic I wanted to dive into is James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell's partnership history.
K
3:56KylieHOST
I always find it fascinating, as someone who's doing some creative projects of my own on the side with different writing partners, it's interesting seeing how people start to work together and what their relationship transforms into.
