LEGO Masters

We did.

Looks like the LEGO Masters are up there now.

It's a hard act to follow that breaking news out here.

It really is.

huge money.

We're talking MasterChef money or Lego Masters money, even more.

And they pumped so much money into this show and I watched it and it was so dreadful.

You just see that stuff and you see it getting commissioned and you just think, fuck, someone's got to be sacked for that or what the fuck were you thinking? Wasted the money.

And they are very squarely aimed at adults.

And so I think the marketing toward that audience and with auxiliary pieces like with Lego, like the TV show, Lego Masters, showing adults building with Legos models that behavior and shows how it's actually kind of fun and engaging and intellectually stimulating to build

Yeah, and I think you've got some brands making that kind of segmentation quite explicit between their adult toys and their children's toys.

Build a Bear has a bear cave, which is intended for shoppers aged 18 plus.

So maybe it's digital detox and lean into that.

Zach, what about you?

Yeah, I really like this idea of like the Lego masters and modeling the behavior, like quite literally just showing how people are doing something that you might not have recognized that like people are doing.

And once you see people doing a behavior, it becomes far more acceptable for you to then say, hey, maybe I'll go buy some Legos and start building because that does seem kind of fun and creative and engaging.

Uh, but, you know, for the layout itself, I'm like, I, I haven't made any kind of, you know, it's like, "Oh, let's all try and use this part," or, "Oh, let's have this theme going on throughout the layout." It's like, nope, just build whatever you want.

It, it is, it is truly impressive, too, 'cause, I mean, you mentioned the portals this year, and, like, it-- there is, uh-- The train itself almost makes this cohesive thing that ties everything together, right? There's this level of cohesion that the train itself offers because it's like, even if it's a totally separate world, and you see it on, like, Lego Masters before, too, it's like, it's just, well, it's just the next stop for the train.

And so it's-- When you think about how there's kind of-- I mean, it's kinda lawless in some ways.

As long as the track is, is 32 inches high, you can do whatever you want, right? And so it doesn't, it doesn't feel like this vomit of random Lego things put together with a train.

Celebrity named that tune, which weirdly... name the tune does some episodes where celebrities running for charity and then they have civilian contestants which is weird because they don't really tell you which sixth season that show's shot in australia so it's easy to fly people to australia how i don't know because that's a long flight Animal Control, well, actually, let's go back.

Lego Masters and Next Level Chef, they have their six seasons.

They're both mid-seasons.

The Floor, they're renewed through season seven.

That show, by the way, turned building bricks into a spectator sport and introduced the brand to new audiences.

When's Lego Masters coming back? I enjoyed that.

The New Zealand version, that father and daughter that did very well.

And Some listeners may remember we've talked about the Lego at school, Lego at work kinds of capabilities.

And there is this game show where the Lego Masters Academy will have a particular theme and people need to build and build quickly and be able to go do those sorts of things.

So to me, I took away from this the whole idea about how to help teams be more creative in a more structured way.

way leveraging the play and the playing kinds of experiences to create new and novel solutions to ideas that may have been vexing them for a long time and because lego has really evolved well beyond the standard set of bricks you can really now examine how um Such construction could unlock creativity and storytelling in a way to solve even business or education or government or other problems because people are presented with that problem and then given a chance to create something physically, tangibly, creatively.

Yeah, it's nice that they're putting this kind of experience in there.

I think that's a really clever thing to add.

Yeah, and it's funny because when you pinged the article to us this week and I was looking at it, it made me remember the TV show Lego Masters, which is always – it's interesting.

I'm just amazed at how creative the people get in trying to address some of the problems that they're presented with.
