Leela Mcdougall

Yeah, this really centres around four people.

Their names were Chantelle and Leela McDougall, Simon Cadwill and Tony Poppich.

And they vanished from the outskirts of Nanup, where they were living here in WA nearly 20 years ago, back in July 2007.

And in the lead up to their disappearance, they told people in their lives that they were moving overseas to Brazil.

Right behind us here is a real point of interest.

Chantelle McDougall, along with her partner Simon Cadwell, their five-year-old daughter Leela, and their friend Tony Popich, haven't been seen since July 2007.

They've become known as the Nanup Four.

This week, a team of volunteers will start a new search for them, led by Matt Strickland, the Vice President of Missing Persons Search Team, Find Our Lost Loved Ones.

Matt Strickland was part of the group which found the remains of missing Belgian hiker Celine Cremere and missing man Peter Willoughby in Tasmania this year.

This is something different because we're potentially looking for buried human remains.

working with the family of Chantelle and Leela McDougall after the case was the subject of ABC's Expanse podcast, which uncovered police error, new details of coercive control and evidence pointing to a possible burial site.

I'm so grateful to all these people helping because for years it felt like we had no one on our side trying to help us.
