Leederville

Down the pre-mantle.

Was it Leederville? Was it Leederville? Was it Leederville? It could have been Fremantle, yes.

I don't think I was on the roof at Leederville.

We used to sit up on the roof a bit at South Fremantle at times and the hardest part was getting up and down the stairs.

We had a wonderful bloke called Tommy Lovins that worked for Patrick's and he was brilliant on numbers and Tommy used to be statistically one person I trusted 100%.

In order to attract major events, the government spent around $96 million, according to the budget papers.

And Places Development Australia has purchased the Oxford Hotel in Leederville for an undisclosed sum with plans to refurbish the historic building.

The West Perth-based developer... has acquired the 368 Oxford Street property from Jackson Town Pty Ltd in a deal that settles today.

Albany-based Wilson Brewing Company will take on the day-to-day operation of the venue once it's revamped next year.

And Optus Stadium isn't going anywhere, so we can look to bring it back any time soon.

But for the time being, I'd have it at Leederville.

That's just my two cents once again.

So that's another thing.

But yeah, at the end of the day, I'd probably like to see it at Leederville.

And this is a good story because there's a bloke down there who many people would know because he used to be a massive promoter of music in not only Western Australia but Australia.

What do you think the game being played at Optus Stadium? Is it still viable or should the Waffle look to take it to a local ground?

I was happy a couple of years ago when it was at Leederville.

It was, the atmosphere was amazing.

You know, I think it was West Perth and Claremont.

Yep.

And, you know, they squeezed however many in there, but the crowd, the ground was packed, the atmosphere was good.

So, yeah, If you'd ask me, I'd say take it back to Leederville.

or a couple of years before that, I think it was in South Fremantle.

They've now, uh, made the 2020 grand final, '22 grand final, lost both of those.

It was in COVID times, so one was at South Fremantle, one was at, uh, Leederville.

Now they get to play at Optus Stadium against a team that will probably win by 10 goals, I would've thought.

Wow.

Matt's looking forward to this battle.

Last year we saw a really low-scoring, tense, tight tussle at Leederville.

Today, better conditions, but the same two sides battling it out for a spot

in the grand final.

And the dual runners-up, East Perth, are staring their season square in the face.

Claremont looking to qualify for their first Optus Stadium grand final.

The third grand final in the last seven seasons, though, having played in losing deciders at Tremantle Oval and Leederville Oval in 2020 and 2026.

The locals are happy.
