Leavening agent

He died on the cross 2,000 years ago.

Then Leaven is a picture of evil in Scripture.

They have the Feast of Unleavened Bread that's immediately connected to it the next day.

There you go.

christ in you the hope of glory he comes into our lives and he takes up occupation in our hearts and just begins like a little bit of yeast to leaven the entire lump of our lives you lumps a bunch of lumps you're a lump of dough and uh and uh isn't that is that beautiful thing to say isn't it um So yeah, we're lumps of dough, but we have this leaven inside of us.

And Jesus is the leaven.

And what does leaven do? Leaven permeates the entire lump of dough.

And so when Christ comes to dwell in us, he comes, but sometimes it's somewhat imperceptible.

And it takes revelation from the word of God to realize that Christ is now indwelling us.

The seven days without leaven began the day after Passover and was called the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Jews saw this time of cleansing their homes of leaven as a time of preparation in which they not only physically prepared, but also spiritually prepared.

Leaven was often seen as a symbol of impurity or corruption because of how quickly it can spoil.

A small amount of leaven raising an entire batch of bread was seen as symbolic of how a small amount of corruption could lead someone into darkness.

This cleansing was a time of inner reflection and repentance so they could more fully enjoy the joyous festival of Passover.

That was followed the next day by the feast of unleavened bread.

Leaven was a sign of sin.

So unleavened bread and that feast The feast represented the day after Passover that Christ, the bread of life, the one sacrificed on Calvary's cross, will remove from us the guilt of sin, the shame of sin, the power of sin.

The next feast was the wave sheaf, followed immediately after the feast of unleavened bread.

And so you're going to be, you know, people that are just kind of clinging on there, whatever it may be.

God, I believe would save them if in fact they would believe in him, but this was something for them as well, that anyone that didn't Put away the leaven, not just don't put it in your bread.

Leaven, by the way, is like yeast, right? Not just not putting it in your bread, but get it out of your house, okay? Don't even have it in your home, right? And when you get into like the law, the Mosaic law, the Jewish law, I think it's 600 plus laws.

And they're very, very specific.

And they're very, very hard to keep, right? I mean, extremely hard to keep.

That was followed the next day by the feast of unleavened bread.

Leaven was a sign of sin.

There's a leaven of Herod.

They're different kinds of leaven.

Leaven is that agent, the yeast that you put in the dough, and it spreads through the dough without any work.

When you put the leaven in there, you just leave it.

You don't even have to do something.

eat it with unleavened bread.

Now, when I see unleavened bread, I always think a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump, right? Leaven is often a picture of sin in the Bible, right? So the idea is we are having this sacrifice to pay the sin debt, right? Okay.

This also deals with the idea that All of these instructions are meant to do this thing quickly.

They're getting ready to leave, right? So you weren't going to like leaven the dough and wait, you know, and for it to rise and need it.

Verse nine, this is powerful.

"A little leaven, a slight inclination to error, and a few false teachers will leaven the whole batch.

It perverts the concept of faith and misleads the church." The footnotes here in my amplified Bible say, "Leaven, yeasty dough, represents the man-made tradition and false teachings that obscur- obscure the truth regarding salvation through personal belief and faith in Christ." Let the dots connect for a minute.

"A little leaven, a slight inclination to error, and a few false teachers leavens the whole batch.

It perverts the concept of faith and misleads the church." There is some false teachers and errors in teaching that are messing up a lot of people.
