I had old leather jackets of my dad's, but I have never intentionally gone out and bought leather.

I think I'm at the point where I would probably not buy it firsthand, but if there was something in a nice charity shop, I'd probably buy that, because good leather, properly taken care of, can last for ages.

Today, we're digging into how leather jackets, safety pins, and Dr. Martens went from everyday gear to iconic punk style, and then taking a look at the people and scenes that turned them into rebellion staples.

Now let's get into the bands, scenes, records, and people that made this story matter.

When we think of punk, the first image that pops is usually a ripped leather jacket slung over an oversized T-shirt, right? But if you dig into its roots, that jacket wasn't born in nineteen seventy-seven on some underground scene.

Fast-forward a decade, the mod scene in London started remixing this aesthetic with sharper tailoring and bright colors.

So punk later borrowed from mods too.

Skinheads, the original British working class rebellion, were already wearing black leather jackets before they even heard about the New York punk explosion.

These first wave skins drew from Jamaican rude boys and early mod culture, and that blend of styles produced a rugged no-frills look that suited the streets.

I imagine Hublot may fall into that.

But we will, of course, first of all, talk about what is it with this leather jacket? And the AA thing, what's going on here? According to Isaac, is he a whole new type set for himself?

Typography is important to branding.
