The OPPC, an intersection in Leamington, was closed down Monday evening due to a chemical spill.

It was Highway 77 and Mersey Road 7.

No word on what the substance was.

The first was around 8 p.m. Friday, when a traffic stop on County Road 20 near McCain Side Road in Kingsville led to the arrest of a 32-year-old Windsor man.

The second was early Sunday morning on County Road 20 near Isla Road in Essex.

A 21-year-old Leamington man is charged with impaired driving and refusal to comply with the demand.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage boy.

48 charges have been laid against a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy.

Meanwhile the OPP has arrested two people following a raid in Leamington.

Police raided a home on Talbot Street West last week and seized cocaine and stolen property worth over $13,000.

A 39-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman both from Leamington are each facing multiple drug and stolen property related charges.

LaSalle firefighters climbed over 50 flights of stairs in full gear on Friday with students from St. Thomas Villanova Catholic Secondary School, marking the 25th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks.

LaSalle firefighter Stephanie DeForest says it's a somber reminder.

This means the average annual home insurance premium is more than 15% higher than the Ontario average of $2,235.

Kayakers and an inflatable were blown offshore.

The OPP say a joint rescue was executed that included the Canadian Coast Guard.

So we looked to that, and what we wanted to do was we wanted to increase the amount of investment in technology.

Four new injection molding machines are operational.

Leamington residents will see some changes to trash pickup in the months ahead.

Councilors voted Tuesday night to switch to bi-weekly pickup in January 2027.

The OPP had a very busy Labor Day in Essex County.

Seven drivers have been charged with impaired driving, starting with a 28-year-old Leamington woman following a traffic stop late Friday night, then a 45-year-old Leamington man just after 2 a.m. Saturday.

A Chatham man is charged after a crash on Talbot Road East near Mersey Road 21 in Leamington on Sunday morning.

Then there was a 49-year-old Kingsville man after a Leamington traffic stop, and a 55-year-old man stopped in Tecumseh after a complaint about stunt driving.

Others included a 25-year-old Windsor driver following a complaint in Essex, and then a 29-year-old Windsor man pulled over in Leamington early Labor Day morning.

Transit users at East Windsor now have a new terminal.

Transit Windsor's James Chacko says it will improve efficiency in the overall system.
