So first of all, I would love for you to share a little bit about yourself and about your company and just maybe define zones of regulations for our audience.
2:32
Yeah.
2:33
So I'm an occupational therapist by trade and then went on to get my master's in education.
2:39
And it was really working full time while getting my master's.
2:43
And I had kids with a lot of different challenges.
2:47
I was in a federal setting for school and had some pretty intense mental health behavior needs that were going unmet.
2:55
And I A lot of the just kind of common approach was that we were going to teach them a lesson, a disciplinary measure, and think they would learn and use level systems to try to promote positive behavior.

What does that regulation support actually look like beyond tier one and tier two and tier three? And and then maybe maybe talk a little bit about a mistake that you think you see districts making in this.
40:05
So, so I guess my question is to you, do you see this shift and how are you feeling about that and where zones fits into all of that?
40:18
Um, well, I, I, I've felt that, you know, using a behavioral principle model has in many ways tried to shape a behavior that doesn't give the foundational skill building needed for that behavior to flourish that we're trying to shape the speaking in positive lens, positive behavior.
41:02
And so what I found through my practice as a OT was that kids needed instruction and they needed exposure and they needed practice and they need a safe climate and safe space to to do this and for that behavior to flourish, the positive behavior that we're aiming for.
41:30
So I also saw many point systems and many, you know, reinforcement classroom management systems So many kids as you know, it was 100% predictable, which kids were always going to be on the undesirable level.
41:58
And I just found that to be sad.
42:03
using that kind of behavioral lens to try to manage behavior just made these kids feel, you know, signaled out, shame, low self-esteem.
42:19
So I wanted to do better by them.

Do you have any good examples of implementation in secondary?
