14:22
How did you come from video game to wanna make a movie about it?
14:27
So on Terminator 2, we were the first movie to ever allow a video game company to be on the set.
14:34
Originally, it was an arc- gonna be an arcade game.
14:36
Arcade, for your listeners who [laughs] might not know, was a place that used to, you used to go to a big room that had big games in it.
14:42
You put quarters in, and that was video games.
14:44
They weren't made for home at that point.
14:46
They were just starting to be.

19 MINS LATER

34:05
[laughs]
2:49
Right.
2:50
That coincided with the time, I think because of what was going on in the world, at least I saw people being so afraid to be their true unfettered creative self, and I'd never seen it like that.
2:59
It's always a little hard and risky to take a wild creative chance, so that's what I think the audience wants, whether you're a movie producer or you make cupcakes for a living.
3:06
But it was just so much, I was whining to my brother one day during that, that year of the strike that, you know, boy, people are so scared to be creative.
3:13
I think it's like a lost generation of, of the whole world is experiencing.
3:16
And he said, "Well, stop whining about it.
3:17
Do something.

16 MINS LATER

18:57
Mm-hmm
7:24
[laughs]
7:24
You have to have, you have to, you have to embrace the madness, especially if you're in a creative industry, because the audience wants the new and the different.
7:31
Like you said, the, the, the current of the river of life will always pull you towards the middle, and it'll pull you towards mediocrity.
7:36
That's okay, but if you wanna be great, it's not okay because other brands that, that are constantly growing and changing and swimming against that current will be innovative and will eclipse you.
7:48
So you have to, you have to embrace the madness.
7:51
And how do you do that with your team and other teams? It's hard.
7:54
I mean, you have to, you have to try and...

15 MINS LATER

22:58
[laughs]
2:20
you
2:20
understand the context.
2:22
But you did say what we talked earlier, fun.
2:24
So I'm going to do a fun, kind of a fun one.
2:26
So first of all, the background of this.
2:29
I wanted to be a movie producer since I was a little kid.
2:31
And I got incredibly lucky.

30 MINS LATER

32:13
So it sounds like there's a difference between, yeah, using data or market research or looking at what people are willing or what people are watching, but don't be a slave to the algorithm.
