Lava

Lizard...

Lava and air settle together into the same cool stillness, and your own breathing can slow along with that quiet shore.

That nightly cooling is one turn of a long cycle, and the shape of the cycle comes from where the species lives.

The marine iguana is found in the Galapagos Islands and nowhere else, and its feeding grounds lie along the edge of the land.

Yeah, I like that.

Lava, I'm

gonna step in.

Yeah.

Volcanic activity in what is now Siberia unleashed violence so extreme that the atmosphere itself became toxic.

Lava flowed, ash choked the sky, the oceans became acidic, the very chemistry of the air changed, and almost everything that breathed discovered that continuing to breathe had become impossible.

And yet, in the middle of that devastation, an opportunity opened.

Animals evolved to occupy the spaces that had been left empty.

Oh, also an inedible thing that looks delicious.

Lava.

That's such a good answer.

I was going to

say lava lamp.

Lava lamp, I drink that.

But lava.

I still to this day love lava.

So this was in the feature.

So they had Floor is Lava, which is a classic one.

So that's leaping and scrambling across rocks without touching the lava below.

Yeah.
