Cheryl SnowHOST

Maybe Greg was there, but it was really a very low production.
Matt B. DavisHOST
64:51
Look at Lauren Weeks.
Matt B. DavisHOST
64:53
Look at Lauren Weeks, the last athlete.
Matt B. DavisHOST
64:56
Always did that.
Matt B. DavisHOST
64:57
Literally nobody watching.
Cheryl SnowHOST
65:44
I think it was right after the sleds.
Cheryl SnowHOST
65:47
They've got this cart that's got the leaders that they're that they're following, right? That they they've got, they're right up ahead of them.
Cheryl SnowHOST
65:53
And then there is a, there is a scene where you see Lauren weeks, just closing on those women.
Kayla CittadinoHOST
5:36
And like, I very much identify with that.
Kayla CittadinoHOST
5:39
But the person that actually stood out to me this last weekend was Lauren Weeks.
Kayla CittadinoHOST
5:43
And, you know, normally Lauren Weeks is, like, the person that's charging at the front that's leading majority of the race.
Kayla CittadinoHOST
5:49
She's taking a lot of risks.
Kayla CittadinoHOST
5:51
And this past weekend, like, she raced very smart, and she raced within her means.
Kayla CittadinoHOST
5:56
And there also was just something so different about Lauren Weeks.
Kayla CittadinoHOST
6:00
Like, she was, you could tell, like, she was smiling more, and she was a little bit more loose and confident.
Kayla CittadinoHOST
6:06
Like she just it almost looked like the pressure and expectation that she normally held on herself.
Matt MasonHOST
8:06
We need a race brain teaser.
Matt MasonHOST
8:09
Jack, is this the first race in Elite 15 women's history that Lauren Weeks, not pregnant, was not first
Jack BauerPANELIST
8:21
into the skier? has to be and if she wasn't first she was basically side by side with whoever was first or she was second like there's no race that i can ever remember where lauren weeks was not the outright winner or leader four minutes into the race except today
Matt MasonHOST
8:41
we've been talking about this for months would she won't she she will she won't And I think we were all just convinced she's just not going to.
Matt MasonHOST
8:51
I thought she was not.
Matt MasonHOST
9:17
I just like, couldn't believe it.
Matt MasonHOST
9:18
It was like, wait a minute.
Matt MasonHOST
9:19
Is the world ending Lauren weeks? It's like death taxes, Lauren weeks, first to the skier.
Jude ReynoldsHOST
4:54
Alistair combines national level, I think she was national level, or at least national level, long distance running with incredible functional station times.
Jude ReynoldsHOST
5:04
And then above her, you've got Lauren Weeks.
Jude ReynoldsHOST
5:06
I just think her time in Acapulco was incredible, with no competition, poor environment, and dropping at an amazing time.
Jude ReynoldsHOST
5:16
Sticky environment.
Paul ReynoldsHOST
6:40
I've got her in fourth just off the podium.
Paul ReynoldsHOST
6:43
And so like you, I've got Saskia in fourth and Calypso in fifth.
Paul ReynoldsHOST
6:47
And then I had Vivian, Lauren Weeks' doubles partner in sixth.
Paul ReynoldsHOST
6:51
I think we're having a similar conversation about the men.
Bernice KellyHOST
6:28
So I'll call out this lineup and then we can kind of have a chat about it.
Bernice KellyHOST
6:31
We've got Joanna Wettrick from Australia, Lauren Weeks from Australia, reigning world champion Alyssa McElhenney from USA, Calypso Sheridan from Australia.
Bernice KellyHOST
6:41
Gabrielle Nakora Baker from New Zealand.
Bernice KellyHOST
6:44
Saskia Millard from England.
Bernice KellyHOST
7:21
Rachel Wade in number 14 from USA and Ellie Stenfors from Finland.
Bernice KellyHOST
7:26
Right off the bat, Ian, one comment I want to say is I'm really proud of our APAC region girls because we have three in there, which... is a huge achievement for us i don't know if we've ever had i'm just trying to think we probably still have you know the likes of jess and gabrielle um jess petra i'm talking about there as well as calypso sheridan have all kind of been in these races but i'm really glad to see that um the apac region is still kind of highly represented um within this lineup we'll get into the challenger division soon but that was kind of my first comment um what's your first thoughts at this lineup in
Ian KayGUEST
8:03
Well, firstly, you may have claimed Lauren Weeks while she was reading through that.
Ian KayGUEST
8:07
You may have said Lauren was in Australia.
Aaron WoodmanHOST
22:41
Yeah, they've signed with Amazon, right? So they should be able to set it up.
Aaron WoodmanHOST
22:45
They'll have Lauren and Greg running around with their GoPros trying to get their DJI gimbals.
Chris BayensHOST
22:52
Too late on the course, she's being a fucking pest.
Aaron WoodmanHOST
22:58
Yeah.
Aaron WoodmanHOST
23:31
So I think if she can control her running and finish strong... without getting carried away she's serious potential to finish on that podium get a slot at worlds and then listen like i didn't pick lauren because yeah i i can't i don't think she could she paces a race weirdly and sprint into the sleds in this kind of field i'm not sure like this is almost like a world champs field i don't think she's gonna be able to do it there
Adam CheangGUEST
23:59
I'd probably say the same, to be honest with you.
Adam CheangGUEST
24:01
I think this season, I don't think Lauren will get away with placing as high, racing the way that she does.
Adam CheangGUEST
24:08
Like you're saying, just going off really, really hot and trying to hang on.
Rich RyanHOST
26:25
And, and, and beats these guys because they haven't made it all the way there.
Rich RyanHOST
26:29
Um, let me tell you, like Lauren weeks can do it.
Rich RyanHOST
26:31
I did.
Rich RyanHOST
26:31
Joanna does it.

14 MINS LATER

Matt MasonGUEST
40:46
But it is still crazy to me that the amount of women that have actually won an elite race... is a very small number of people.
Matt MasonGUEST
41:00
For sure.
Matt MasonGUEST
41:01
It's Lauren Weeks, Meg Jacoby, Joanna Wettrick, Linda Meyer, Mikaela Norman, Alyssa McElhaney, And then Chris Roglosky.
Matt MasonGUEST
41:18
Sinead, you can kind of count if you want to count the regionals.
Matt MasonHOST
7:43
I am actually going to take the one.
Dawson MillerGUEST
7:47
Oh, well, then Lauren Weeks is off the board.
Dawson MillerGUEST
7:50
So everybody's not going
Matt MasonHOST
7:51
to talk me into it.
Dawson MillerGUEST
9:37
You
Matt MasonHOST
9:37
know,
Dawson MillerGUEST
9:38
if Lauren Weeks is on the board, I will draft her number, whatever number she is.
Dawson MillerGUEST
9:44
That is what you've stated many times.
Calypso SheridanGUEST
27:24
Yeah.
Calypso SheridanGUEST
27:25
i think for me the square the um grid really is really helpful because as like you know less than a runner more of a strength athlete having all the corners was fantastic like it doesn't affect me personally like muscularly it's it just slows down the fast runners yeah so i think you're like 150 corners so that was a little wild but yeah getting into those wall balls and like knowing i had like 20 30 seconds or however much it was on lauren and like knowing that if i like held it together i was gonna cross the line and forth it was just It was beyond what I expected.
Calypso SheridanGUEST
27:56
And yeah, I was just overwhelmed by how happy I was because I'd worked so hard and obviously taken the risk of quitting my job and doing this full time.
Calypso SheridanGUEST
28:05
And yeah, I was just so excited to see it, feeling like it was paying off.
Greyson KilgoreGUEST
50:07
I don't know if you've seen this yet, but there's a group of us that have been writing an article called the High Rocks Coaching Collective.
Greyson KilgoreGUEST
50:13
It's myself, Anthony Parasini, Lauren Weeks, Dylan Scott, Cole Learn, Chris Baines.
Greyson KilgoreGUEST
50:19
So it's a well-informed article.
Greyson KilgoreGUEST
50:21
And one of the last things we did was talk about the psychology of winning.
Greyson KilgoreGUEST
50:25
And Lauren Weeks and Dylan, actually everybody, had some amazing things to say about the psychology of winning.
Greyson KilgoreGUEST
50:32
So if you haven't read that article yet, people go read that article because it's the best of the best talking about what they do.
Greyson KilgoreGUEST
50:38
And Lauren Weeks particularly was pointing out like every single person from the best racer and onward has intrusive thoughts, moments of doubt, fears that creep in.
Greyson KilgoreGUEST
50:50
You have to have a plan and a readiness to deal with those so that you can handle it.
