who is completely opposed to that.
Will HaywardGUEST
51:05
Now, reform themselves probably haven't got a leg to stand on complaining because under the previous system, they had a conservative Senate member called Laura Ann Jones, who was elected on a conservative list, go over towards them and affected to them.
Will HaywardGUEST
51:19
So reform can't complain.
Will HaywardGUEST
51:20
But I think what's so frustrating about the system that Wales introduced is the only thing that British democracy really did well was have a link between the constituent and the person representing them.
Kenny CampbellHOST

happened there? Episode 275, and it's still only Monday, so midday.
Alex AndreouHOST

Live broadcast started 3,000 hours ago.
Kenny CampbellHOST
55:32
Well, look, because while you guys were recording, Laura Ann Jones was elected as the deputy leader of reform in Wales.
Kenny CampbellHOST
55:40
She wasted no time in calming things down.
Daniel DaviesCORRESPONDENT
2:50
Yes, it was.
Daniel DaviesCORRESPONDENT
2:51
And the deputy leader is Laura-Ann Jones.
Daniel DaviesCORRESPONDENT
2:55
And she was a Conservative member before defecting to reform and then elected for reform at the Senate election in May.
Daniel DaviesCORRESPONDENT
3:06
And one of the first questions for her was on Radio Wales earlier in the week, you know, what about another candidate? who originally defected from the Conservatives or left the Conservatives, was thrown out of the Conservatives maybe, James Evans.
Dan MorganGUEST
30:00
There's been a change of leadership, isn't there? So Dan Thomas has stepped down and you've now got two ladies.
Dan MorganGUEST
30:07
So you've got Helen Jenner, you know, great Welsh-speaking, and Laura Ann Jones, ex-conservative, but she was one of the good ones who was actually vocal in the Senate about trans ideology in schools, things like that.
Dan MorganGUEST
30:16
And they're both leading the charge now.
Dan MorganGUEST
30:18
And then you've got Francesca O'Brien.

Please go on.
Dan MorganGUEST

So Reform Wales deputy leader Helen Jenner is among a number of party figures found to be following the Swansea-based anti-migrant group Voice of Wales on Facebook.
Dan MorganGUEST
43:36
The group is also followed by Senedd member Ian McIntosh, Gareth Thomas, Laura Ann Jones, Joe Martin and Catherine Cullen.
Dan MorganGUEST
43:41
Reform's official Blaine and Gwent, Caerphilly, Rumney branch account, the South Swansea, West and Gower Reform branch and the Allen, Deeside and Wrexham branch are also following the account.
Guto HarriGUEST

I think the fact that you've got somebody who's literally marking Fianna Fáil with, you know, man for man, woman for man from the same patch, beautiful welsh um speaks welsh fluently loves wales as much as he does to be honest it takes a lot of the toxicity uh that applied have been trying to generate against reform away and so we're looking weirdly at a very interesting battle now um in the center then i think you'll know more about this both of you than me but I suspect with her that what they're up against is something that's harder to dismiss because she's serious, she's committed to the Senedd, she's committed to Wales, and so we'll have a genuine opposition there, and hopefully that will determine that the group are there not to be disruptive and difficult, but to be constructive and opposed.
Laura Emily DunnHOST
7:48
Do you think then, Guto, it solves a few of those questions, those problems that they had about were they serious about Wales, but also, you know, being the girl on the call, do you think it solves that woman problem that a lot of people were trying to composed that narrative and also they elected Laura Ann Jones as their deputy leader.
Laura Emily DunnHOST
8:03
Do you think that helps fix some of those even if it's temporary?
Guto HarriGUEST
8:07
All of the above.
Ruth MosalskiGUEST
28:52
You're sep- you know, trying to separate the people and the party and what voters think and what that individual thinks is, is impossible.
Felicity EvansHOST
29:00
Mind you, I suppose we've seen it on the list system under the old system, haven't we? Laura Ann Jones defected-
James WilliamsHOST
29:07
Well, it's not new necessarily.
James WilliamsHOST
29:08
It was just baked in, isn't it?
Will HaywardHOST
20:22
They will have voted for Reform because that is the nature of electoral system, and they now have someone sitting for a party that is diametrically opposed to who they are and what, um, they, um, uh, see, and how they see the world.
Will HaywardHOST
20:35
Now, Reform themselves cannot really complain about this, and the reason they can't complain about this is before the election, um, Laura Anne Jones defected to Reform from the Tories, and she was elected entirely under a closed list system when Wales, you did the two votes where one was for constituency and one was for the, um, the, um, the wider area.
Will HaywardHOST
20:57
Um, and Laura Anne Jones didn't feel the need to, um, do, to, um, to step down.
Will HaywardHOST
21:03
You can't argue this is undemocratic and reflective of a terrible, terrible electoral system, and it looks really, really bad for Wales.
Will HaywardHOST
21:10
I don't know if you guys agree.
