And at the peak absurdity of all of this is the fact that Some of our international colleagues have had to litigate in Israeli law courts to be able to be allowed to go back to Gaza and provide care through a medical team.

I mean, just saying that statement alone seems crazy.

Listening to Late Night Live, I'm Paul Barry, talking to Dr. Bushra Othman and Dr. Amy Nielsen about the experiences of Australian and New Zealand medics in Gaza, described in the new book, Weight of Witness.

For both of you, either of you, I mean, particularly you having been there three times, Bushra, it must be incredibly traumatizing, surely.

So, have we ever thought about what this means in real terms? My next guest says extraction is how we live, and he's tried to grapple with the idea in his new book called The Vanishing Earth, A Journey Through the Last Days of Abundance.
