The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) was created on July 1, 1973. It was a merger between the Clark County Sheriffs Department and the Las Vegas City Police. The LVMPD provides police services to the City of Las Vegas and the unincorporated area of Clark County.
