Larry Phillips

Very interesting car.

Uh, we had Larry Phillips build a chassis and, uh, My dad, the title Never Lift means something to us, to me.

My dad lived by that.

My dad was so crazy that he believed if you were going to wreck into the ditch, if you were going fast enough, you'd be better off.

okay

there was one before that and that was uh the year before in late metal dirt people don't believe this but i won a race at bolivar missouri That's where the racing gods were.

That's where Larry Phillips was.

And the racing gods were from Missouri.

His shirt was perfect.

But one night at Ozark Empire Fair Grounds, Springfield, Missouri, you had Rusty Wallace and, and, uh, Larry Phillips, you had them beat.

You, you had this race won.

And Mark, I'll just let you take the story from there.

That was my hyperfocus.

I'm a hyperfocus kind of guy, and I was hyperfocused all through those years on, on what...

See, I couldn't out-drive Larry Phillips.

You know that.
