Larry Bartels

Great.

And we are really lucky today to have Larry Bartels, and I'm super excited.

Larry is one of the most prolific and accomplished political scientists working today.

He's an American political scientist, but also is working in comparative politics.

me one quick pedantic preface, because I think it's sort of it's important for how we read what has been happening over the last decade or so in Germany, in particular, maybe in Europe more broadly.

So as pointed out in an important book called Democracy, he wrote from the top by a former colleague called Larry Bartels.

It can seem like the far right is becoming ever stronger, and it's partly because disappointed conservatives, voters who used to go for center-right parties, are all flocking to them.

But as Larry rightly pointed out, in many cases what you actually see is that people who didn't vote at all beforehand now all of a sudden find a supply of a party which they like.
