Lara Somogyi

I'm John Schaefer.

Lara Somogyi has reinvented the sound of the harp using looping technology and effects pedals to create music that blends chamber music, post-minimalism, and ambient electronics.

She's based in LA and has become something of a first-call harp player for film and TV composers, so you'll have heard her playing in everything from The Lion King to Bridgerton.

Lara Somogyi's most recent album of her own music is called A Time Patterned, and she's here with a string quartet to play some of it, beginning with this piece called Mirabelle.

That is Lara Somogyi and String Quartet live in the studio with a song called Mirabelle, which you'll find on Lara's most recent album called A Time Patterned.

The string quartet includes violinists Maria Im and Caroline Cascio, violist Angela Pickett, and cellist Laura Metcalf.
