Langfang

A campaign was launched to, quote, "crack down on organized crime and gangs," with the main target being Falun Gong practitioners on the government's blacklist.

In Langfang City and surrounding areas, there were forty-two confirmed arrest and harassment cases.

One of the practitioners, Ms. Wang Xuha, died days after being harassed at home.

One officer demanded to see Ms. Wang, and her husband said she was not feeling well.

After 23 injuries, one surgery, and property damage totaling around $710,000, 1.5 million units had to be recalled.

But going back to our original case of the man in China, there hadn't been any reports of thunderstorms in the Langfang area that day, nor did his toilet have any kind of needlessly fancy high pressure flushing mechanism.

Turns out it's all because he lit up a cigarette.

Firefighting officials found an excessive amount of methane on the scene even after the explosion had passed for some time.

With his mother bedridden, he left home at 14 to study.

He attended the China Petroleum Pipeline Institute, then joined the Ministry of Petroleum's pipeline bureau in Langfang, landing a stable iron rice bowl job.

But in 1987, he quit that iron rice bowl job and headed south to Shenzhen and Hainan.

At his lowest point, when he got a haircut for two yuan, he would haggle to get it down to one.
