Lanesboro

So I s- I see, um, people also finding the ways to invest in the arts, um, through some of those larger projects and kind of, um, make sure that the arts are embedded into those.

Um, even MnDOT, um, right now is working with the, uh, community of Lanesboro.

They're doing a big highway, uh, reconstruction, and they are supporting Lanesboro Arts to, um, pay artists to do some projects that help mitigate some of the effects of that construction through their downtown.

Mm-hmm.

I, I love Lanesboro.

When, when you look across the state, um, outside of the Twin Cities, are, are there certain communities that are really shining when you look at what they're able to offer in terms of the performing arts or visual arts? Uh, Lanesboro would be on my list.

Other communities you, and, and Grand Marais, of course-

Mm-hmm

YepYeah, he really is.

And, uh, and then we've got Henry Semmen, uh, running back out of Lanesboro.

He runs for 190 yards and two touchdowns last week, and they got a nice win.

Um, and I forget who it was they played.

Oh, yeah.

Lanesboro.

We need to talk about that because that was a, that was a pretty good win, and he was a very big part of that, of that win with, uh, that rushing attack there.

Um, great game on, on his part.

I'm a writer in Rochester.

I attended a preview performance of Eel Pout at the Commonwealth Theatre in Lanesboro.

It was about ice fishing and male bonding in Minnesota.

And it uses the, I guess, the conceit of a talking eel pout that interacts with the three main male characters, Sven, Oli, and Lars.

I've never seen anything like it.

Opening night is Saturday.

Eel Pout plays at the Commonweal Theatre in Lanesboro through November 1st.

My name is Derek Dalsid.
