Colin was the first AD and Colin had a health issue at the time.

And so instead of us getting another assistant director, you know, there was some pressure from the studio to get an American first assistant director to come out to Australia.

The Wachowskis, rightly or wrongly, I guess, threw their lot in with me and said, James can do it.

They felt that we were going on too long, so they came down to sort of, okay, all right, you guys have to finish it, 96 days, which we didn't.

And The Matrix is supposed to be a trans-coded movie.

I don't know if that's blowing your mind, but, like, you can see, you can see that once you know this identity stuff about the Wachowski sisters.
