Lamaze technique

And I think everybody, it does take a village.

I had an aunt that was a Lamaze instructor, later became an IBCLC, but she actually helped me with my first child where I experienced everything that you could experience with breastfeeding challenges, whether it was, you know, cracked and bleeding nipples, thrush.

You know, by my son not just, you know, being sleepy at the breast and mastitis, I even went through that first.

It seems like I went through everything with my first child, and after that, you know, I was able to do it with every other one.

This is the, this is a cinematic universe, so you never know.

Um, there was a really cute scene with Rue and Kristy McNichol in Lamaze class.

Yes, that was so cute.

I mean, this, this whole movie is meant to...

When it gets to their, them at their peak pregnant, that's when the movie becomes the movie.

Yeah.

It, it's, it was cute seeing them in Lamaze class.

Lamaze also is just, like, a super '80s, '90s thing to me.

There is a reason doctors prescribe muscle relaxants.

There is a reason why mindfulness and diaphragmatic breathing and Lamaze breathing for women who are giving birth is effective for pain management.

Thing two that changes pain volume.

There are many.

Our daughter's pregnant.

She's due in October.

And my wife was asking her about Lamaze classes, and they're not teaching her that.

And you're just thinking about it, like, okay, yeah, that breathing thing, that definitely was an assist in the delivery room for my daughter.

But where that was sort of the original, like in...

If we even jump even further into like the 70s and Lamaze, you know, and that was sort of the first like childbirth exercise classes, that sort of thing.

But there was so much that focus around the pelvic floor was just about activation.

It wasn't about release.

[laughs]

I didn't go to Lamaze or anything like that.

Yeah.

Um, I was fully planning to get all the drugs.

And so I'm really grateful for how that happened.

And what I think is really funny, I was the only single pregnant woman in my Lamaze classes that I decided to take.

And we had like this reunion after all of these babies were born out of this like class.

And I was the only one who didn't have any drugs.

Um-

Everyone, everyone's doing Lamaze classes.

[laughs] It's wild.

Should we do a, a Lamaze class together?

I don't think that there's a reason for us to do Lamaze class.

Why?

Because we're not gonna be birthing children.

Yeah, but I still wanna learn how to breathe.
