More than 54,000 Entergy customers in Texas on the north and northeast outskirts of greater Houston are without power at this hour.

and concern has turned this morning to flooding caused by high cumulative rain totals over the last 24 hours, in particular in Hardin and Tyler counties and in areas near Lake Livingston in central Polk County, where there has been a lot of rain.

Livingston ISD is starting school on a two-hour delay today.

Conroe and Willis ISD called off classes.

So it's, you know, we're not talking about terribly strong winds, but we could still see some gusts, especially between Lufkin and, say, Livingston, that stretch of east Texas through the afternoon, 30, 40 miles per hour.

So we do have that.

Wind advisory, in addition to the slew of flood alerts that we've got across southeast and east Texas that you just kind of mentioned, we've got flash flood emergencies, we've got, you know, considerable flood threats here, especially focused in on that Lake Livingston area.

Do we know of specific places that have flooded rather significantly?

Cameron Baptiste is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

He says central Polk County, specifically near Lake Livingston, has seen some of the most precipitation so far.

They've seen anywhere between six to ten inches of rain, and then there's currently a rain band that's extending down into Liberty County, over into eastern portions of of Montgomery County as well.

And we have quite a few areas under a flash flood warning, including portions of Polk County and Liberty County early this morning.

Up to 16 inches of rain could fall by Lake Livingston by the time this storm is all set and done.

A flash flood warning is in effect until 9 o'clock in that area of Polk County.

A flood warning is also in place for east-central San Jacinto County until 9.

It is currently located over in western Polk County.

national weather service meteorologist cameron baptiste says heavy rain will continue today up there it already is right now with some areas near lake livingston getting as much as 16 inches of rain possibly up to 10 inches has already fallen in some areas flash flood warnings are currently in effect for that area in polk county until 6 15. the flood warning is in effect also for in northwestern liberty central montgomery and southeastern San Jacinto counties.

That was just issued and set to expire around 845 this morning.

One to four inches has fallen in those spots and an additional two to four is expected.

Tropical storm force winds are still a factor, though.

Self says around Lake Livingston they recorded gusts around 50 miles an hour.

Much of that area is without power this morning because of it.

A Galveston County jury heard opening statements and witnessed testimony Tuesday in the trial against an alleged accomplice in the Texas Killing Fields case.

There's also a flash flood warning in effect for Southeastern Polk County until 930.

Upwards of 15 inches of rain have been recorded around Lake Livingston.

Flood watches are also in effect for some areas, including Harris County.
