Williams County Extension Educator Kayla Wyse recently traded northwest Ohio for Lake Superior, spending a week aboard the Lake Guardian as part of the Shipboard Science Immersion Program.

This experience brought together educators and scientists from across the Great Lakes region for a firsthand look at research happening on the water and the connection between land, water, and the communities around them.

Kayla joins us now to share more about the program, what a week aboard a research vessel looked like, and what she brought back home to Ohio.

For someone who's never been on a research vessel before, or maybe even heard of it, can you talk about what was your typical day aboard the Lake Guardian? What did it look like? What kind of research were you and the scientists conducting while you were on the lake?

Yeah, so the Lake Guardian is one of the largest research vessels in the States.
