Lake Bell

I mean, I might've seen it a long time ago, but I don't remember him in it.

Has Tyler Labine and Lake Bell, uh, Jason Sudeikis.

Is Nick Kroll there too?

Yep, Nick Kroll.

"Three couples are summoned by their psychologist on a Saturday for what they believe is an individual session.

Upon arriving at an industrial artist's studio, they realize that the therapist is a no-show, and instead she has left a letter and eight envelopes for the couples to conduct their own group therapy session, inviting each pair to reveal to one another their darkest secrets." Blow the Horn stars Tracee Ellis Ross of American Fiction and Black-ish, Ken Leung of Project Hail Mary and Lost, Lake Bell of In a World and Childrens Hospital, Joshua Boone of Premature and A Jazzman's Blues, Ren Schmidt of Nuremberg and For All Mankind, and Dallas Roberts of 3:10 to Yuma and The Walking Dead.

You guys are gonna hear a conversation about the casting [laughs] so I figured I'd reference some of their highlights there.

The film is also co-produced by Jamon O'Brien of Eighth Grade and Die My Love, and during the interview we also mention the editor Sabine Hoffman, who edited Passing, the 2021 Netflix film that, uh, Mike and I loved starring Tessa Thompson.

Thanks again to Nacho for joining me today.

Blow the Horn is premiering at the Woodstock Film Festival on Saturday, October 17th at the Woodstock Playhouse at 3:15 PM Eastern, and the Newport Beach Film Festival on Tuesday, October 20th at the Regal Edwards Big Newport at 8:00 PM Pacific.

Again, I love seeing this cast together, Tracee Ellis Ross and Ken Leung, Lake Bell and Joshua Boone, Ren Schmidt and Dallas Roberts.

So the words of wisdom today are to check out this cast at, at all those screenings, and to otherwise be on the lookout for Blow the Horn.

Ken Leong.

Lake Bell's in it.

Man, let me bring this up.

So yeah, Ren Schmidt.

Who was yours?

Lake Bell.

[laughs]

Yeah, sure.

Great, great, great.

Um, Lake Bell, were you your sexual awakening?

No.

You were looking in the mirror one day, and you were like, "Yep"?

The, the point of this-

Yeah, Lake Bell [laughs]

... is that he renamed one of the Great Lakes, and you, you don't worry about calling that by its real name, so I don't think we're gonna worry about calling it Superintelligence.

[laughs]

Can you remember, Jacques?

No Escape is an action thriller starring Owen Wilson, Lake Bell and Pierce Brosnan.

The film follows American engineer Jack Dwyer, who relocates with his wife Annie and their two young daughters to an unnamed Southeast Asian country after accepting a new job.

Shortly after their arrival, a violent coup erupts when rebels overthrow the government and begin targeting foreigners whom they blame for the country's political and economic problems.

Well, I think you definitely, I certainly was invested in the characters.

I think the casting in this film is great.

I think Lake Bell is very good.

I think the two kids in this movie, I mean, kids often in films are, you know, can be horrendous.

Oh.

Lake Bell.

Oh.

John Krasinski.

So Alec Baldwin cheated on Meryl Streep-

[gasps]

... and they divorced, and now he is remarried to the woman that he cheated on her with, Agnes, played by Lake Bell.

Ah.

Yes.

She is Lake Bell.

Like, she's played by Lake Bell in this book in my mind.

To me she's more Lake Bell, less Catherine Keener.

I love that, yeah, of like this woman with bangs and...

Wait, hold on.

I have the description of the blazer, the lady comedy drag description.

"When she appeared, arms full of Whole Foods bags, she was decidedly not chubby or hairy.

I became hysterical, of course.

Do you know Lake Bell?

Yeah.

Vaguely.

So

my boyfriend and I and our friends and Lake were volunteering.

And we were literally bagging potatoes.

And my phone rings, and it says health care.
