Laie

Well, two months later, two months after we got married, my wife said, I'm going to BYU Hawaii tomorrow to talk with someone about getting you in.

Literally, the next day, she dragged me to Laie and walked us both into the admission office.

As I sat there, I thought to myself, honey, that's not going to work.

But they asked to see my transcripts, and miraculously, I was admitted to this school with a letter of acceptance the very next day.

It all seems to dissipate after it drops all of its rain on the windward side.

Now, as far as heavy showers right now, if we zoom in, we can see that Laie is getting some pretty good rain showers up to Kahuku and Covella Bay as well, getting pretty wet.

There's also some returns of rainfall there for the islands of Kauai County.

We've been looking at what's going on in the past, what's happened already.

So through two games, Bachmeier's the Big 12 Conference co-leader, responsible for eight total touchdowns, including six touchdown passes and two rushing scores.

And then Tausili, the 6'3", 235-pound junior from Laie, Hawaii, Had four tackles, including two and a half sacks, and the Cougars win over Arizona with just under six minutes to play in the game.

I moved to Laie when I was 15 years old.

I remember watching my dad give a devotional at BYU Hawaii.

I couldn't have imagined that I'd be doing the same thing many years later.

Kaleohano was baptized and went on to serve as a missionary on every island of Hawaii.

He was a leader in the church and led one of the earliest Latter-day Saint families to come to Laie.

He even dedicated the cornerstone of the first chapel here in Laie and was a loved and respected kumu hula.

George Q. Cannon went on to serve in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and the First Presidency of the church.

He has many descendants, and I have the pleasure of knowing several of them personally.

I hope that the Spirit has prompted you in at least one of these areas, and maybe in all of them, something that you want to do to better take advantage of this wonderful opportunity that you have here at BYU Hawaii to grow and develop your talents in a meaningful way.

Now, everyone here at BYU Hawaii is here to help you, and you don't have to do it all at once.

Growth will come as you practice these simple foundational behaviors over time, here and long after you leave Laie.

Why do you think they're going out and playing state volleyball tournaments out in Laiea? um basketball uh banco arena at stan sheriff center or um you know early rounds at like mckinley and moanalua like i can recall when when i'd come up every year and i'd cover some of these state tournaments where the the pahawas and the the the honokas would all play that was like the big thing hey we're going to the blaisdell it's cold as you know what but that's where everybody wants to be now it's like well, it's not used for anything sports anymore because that infrastructure has just been ruined.

And I would hate for that to be the way we look at all of our infrastructure.

We want important sporting events there.

Less than two hours later, EMS says a 57-year-old driving a motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Kamehameha Highway.

This is in the Laie area.

He was wearing a helmet and was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Drivers encountered a truck engulfed in flames along the Kaneohe Mount H-3 Monday afternoon.
