Laidback Luke

So even with nights like we had...

There was one night we had, oh, Laidback Luke, Steve Angello, and I think it was Sidney Samson, and it was great.

Uh, we were at the O2 Academy then 'cause we'd outgrown, um, Mission.

Right.

It starts with the Tim Bergling records, has a brief mention of a record that he heard of with Pete Tongue.

It talks about how Laidback Luke helped mentor him through those early days as well.

And then it jumps to kind of levels and onwards.

So Ministry of Sound, a massive part of your career, a massive part of all the biggest artists in Melbourne, especially during that period.

So that always stands out for me as a record.

And Laidback Luke's a legend, man.

He's another person who really gave me a shot early doors and helped me a lot.

And that's what I love.

So, people love to say that everything happens over DM now, and sure, DMs are a very real thing.

Things do start there, but it is the in-person connection that turns it into something real, and Laidback Luke is my favorite example of that.

So, sometime in 2025, before ADE, Laidback Luke follows me on Instagram, and I'm sitting there thinking like, "Wow, this is a legend.

I've seen him play so many times.

Um, this is crazy." But it kinda made sense, because he's a mentor, and he's very into helping people, so sure, it made sense that he found my content, but still a very starstruck moment to me.

So, a few weeks later, I'm in Amsterdam for ADE, and it's our first day there.

I'm just standing in the middle of a cobblestone street with my husband, trying to figure out where to go, and Laidback Luke walks up, like right up to me, and he goes, "Hi, Olivia.
