LaGrange

I can't remember what it was, maybe at a Longhorn's.

And, um, in LaGrange, Georgia, and, uh, this cowboy sitting next to me and he's got money on all the games or something.

And I'd have a few beers and stuff.

And this girl comes up, the cowboys goes, where are you from? He goes, Saundersville.

It was right across the Georgia line.

So it was LaGrange, Georgia, Noonan, Georgia, um, west point uh a little bar you live down there yeah so so we'd play probably like four or five different bars and and worked them every month did you finish high school i did uh barely

did you take any technical college or anything

i you want to hear something funny uh tara just of course i i uh We had a trade school.

same thing.

And then my dad went on to become a really good bow hunter as well, and I went off to college, and he got transferred up to LaGrange, Georgia with his job, which I now live here in LaGrange.

It's only 50 miles from the realty office in Columbus, Georgia.

There's a paper mill in LaGrange, is there not? Isn't there a paper mill in

LaGrange? No, there's a lot of textile mills.

Textile mills? In LaGrange.

Okay.

So your dad stayed in the textile

And we have a couple of gems.

LaGrange and West Point went head-to-head, and Richard was boots on the ground.

Yeah, I had a great time at Callaway Stadium.

Electric crowd.

There's a ton of fans that were packing the stadium.

LaGrange College ends up getting the 31-7 victory over Point.

I talked to both coaches before the game, Coach Nigel Lawrence for Point University and Wes Dotson for LaGrange.

They appreciated Georgia Alabama Sports Live being there and representing this area because it's not every day that we have two local college football teams in the Chattahoochee Valley, Point University out of West Point, LaGrange College.

And I know that a lot of people aren't talking about Taylor County, but I thought that was important that I got them up in my rankings.

And I include teams like LaGrange, Callaway, Harris County, Sumter County, over in West Central Georgia.

Over in Alabama, Central's No. 1, Glenwood, Russell County.

There's really no differential between teams.

2-0 on the season, big win over Pelham.

And then we've got Harris County, 2-1, getting a big win over Sumter County.

I still have LaGrange in my top 10.

They are 1-2, but they played a tough Ola team, and they also did beat Noonan, which was a big win for the Grangers and lost to Troop County.

How did you wind up even joining the United States military?

Well, yes, I was a kid in LaGrange, Georgia, so relatively small town here in Georgia, south of Atlanta.

And I was a baseball player, kind of probably similar to you with football.

I didn't think the Naval Academy was really in the cards for me.

So that's another team that we're pulling for.

We're pulling for Mercer, West Georgia, all the college football teams in the state of Georgia to include Point and LaGrange.

I'm excited about that game on Saturday as well.

Big shout out to, of course, Ryan Omedia.

That's all I want to do.

But this is what I know you do really well.

And this is, you know, you went in and pulled one out of the hat there when you're talking about covering LaGrange and Point football on this weekend.

I mean, that is, you know, I don't – care what anybody else thinks Richard but as far as I'm concerned that's high cut and I think because you're doing something that needs to be done that hasn't been done or at least it had been done to the degree it's gotten on my radar but

Yeah, he just keeps winning.

They had a massive win over LaGrange last Friday night at Callaway Stadium.

Now they've got another big game at Callaway Stadium where they take on Powerhouse Calhoun.

They won a state championship a couple years ago.

We're getting ready for a big, big game tomorrow night, guys.

I mean, this is going to be a tremendous game tomorrow night.

So, you know, coming off the LaGrange game, I don't know who made this schedule.

I wanted to fire that guy on Saturday, and then I realized I needed to feed my family.
