Lagonda

They got married in Chelsea registry office, and, uh, they went on holiday.

They toured Europe in a yellow rented Lagonda, had a marvelous time, and then they settled in London, and they started to try and get themselves up the old social ladder.

Ernest had a sister who was very well-connected.

They knew lots of the Americans in town, and gradually they scraped acquaintance with the Prince of Wales's then mistress, an American lady called Thelma.

... chairman, him, and a couple different people, and they're like, "[sighs] What are we gonna do?" And their designer comes in and goes, "I've got this." And he shows them a design.

He's like, "s- I've already drawn it," and it's the Lagonda.

Oh.

And so Aston Martin today owes its existence to the Lagonda.

It was a Hail Mary that worked.

The, the, what happened with Lagondas is that it was so early, it was so ahead of its time, that that early first version digital dashboard, of course, stopped working.

And back then, there was no fixing it, so a lot of Lagondas went into disrepair, or you see a lot of them that were just junked.
