Um, and so I showed up at that studio, and I sat down at his Pro Tools rig, and I was like, "Okay, it's done." And he was like, "Oh, you can stay." And, uh, I started working for him.

We worked on a couple albums, like Ladytron album, Mount Sims, a couple indie artists and stuff, which I really enjoyed, but the whole time I was sitting there and I was thinking, "Yeah, I, I don't wanna spend my life in a room with no windows for somebody else's music."

Yeah.

Uh, and it was sort of at that same time that he started getting these calls from ad agencies being like, "Hey, I know you did, like, The Midnight Vultures record stuff.

They're 80s pop, but they're kind of a bit dark.

If there's any contemporary reference, it sounds like a band like Ladytron

kind of

really took their sound.

At the same time, there is legitimate evidence that the album's development and promotion were complicated.

Members of Ladytron recently spoke to Christina's original vision for the album, saying it differed substantially from the finished product and that RCA pushed the project towards a more commercially recognizable electronic pop sound in an effort to compete with where music was on pop radio.

These accounts have contributed to the longstanding fan theory that Bionic was sabotaged.

What can be established is that the album faced an unusual combination of circumstances.

So my husband sort of did a little bit of pushing me and motivating me to reach out.

He's like, you know, if you love these guys so much, why don't you reach out to them? I was like, you think they'd want to work with me?

Among the collaborators were M.I.A., Santigold, La Tigre, Ladytron, Sia, and other producers and songwriters.

A 2010 Billboard interview emphasized the album's unusually broad range of contributors, describing the project as a significant departure from the retro aesthetic of Back to Basics.

It was called Cantril Farm in the days when Anneliese, uh, was born and brought up there.

And in fact, the band The Farm were called after Cantril Farm.

A lot of people moved to that area during the slum clearance of the 1960s and '70s.

Including her parents, who struggled initially, money tight, jobs hard to find.

A self-confessed rebel at school, at 12 after a visit to Liverpool's newly opened Tate Gallery, she fell in love with modern art.

She became seriously ill with meningitis in her teens, credits Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital with saving her life, then at 17 ran away to Paris.

She was really into, um, history of art.

memory so bionic Monday morning I think that'd be fun to like bring it down so it's like palatable to everybody Elastic Love I think we all can agree like whenever we promote this album eventually Elastic Love should be the song because like that one is so good I think it would show everybody that she could do like everything because like we already know she can sing like it's a good sonic like song for her and i think that would be it if anything i would probably do a fourth and it would just be glam i think that would be like a fun frothy pop song for her to end on

and what about like i know like it wasn't included or whatever but i can't remember the name what's that other song that's produced by that was produced by lady tron that everyone wants there was like a third song that lady tron did that like it hasn't been released i don't remember the name of it I don't know.
